Upgrades have been cut off since v8. Back then you could get on annual support (295/year) that would include all updates. If you didn't get on the support, your license is stuck at its current version. You can either buy a full new perpetual license (and keep that under support), or rent a license (per month or year).

You can install on both machines but You'll need to move the license whenever you want to run MC on the other machine.

mac and pc mc at same time?

I have a mc on a macbook pro and was thinking about getting a cheap used qualified pc laptop as a backup for editing on the road in case the mac crashes... can i install my avid on both my macbook pro and a qualified used pc laptop and have them work with only one license? (of course the two would never be on at the same time since the pc is only used...
