MTVU's "Ahead of the Curve" using Avid products across the board

In the upcoming weeks MTVU, the university broadcast division of MTV, will be airing short, live videos shot and produced at South by South West - the music, film and interactive festival held every spring in Austin, TX. While in Austin for the festival this year Avid Artist Relations was able to visit the decommissioned power plant where the shoots were held.

Shoot in progress on the RED

Shooting 48 bands in 4 days the MTVU team, led by director Dax Martinez Vargas of the Sniper Twins, had their work cut out for them. Here Martinez Vargas outlines how they get it all done in such a short amount of time.

Working with award-winning Live/post sound engineer Michael Prince, MTVU strives to give their audience more than what they might see in each bands individual music video. Prince explains.

All videos are shot on the RED camera and edited in Media Composer with sound recording and mixing done in Pro Tools 8. Stay Tuned to to see the videos as they're released.
