As we kick off day 3 at IBC, we’re pleased to announce that Kanal 75, Sweden’s leading horse-racing production company and a wholly owned company of ATG, has invested in an Avid® Interplay® Media Asset Management (MAM) system to efficiently store, manage and monetize the thousands of hours of footage that the production company captures and distributes each year. Kanal 75 is the first Avid customer in Sweden to adopt the Interplay MAM solution.

An Avid customer since Kanal 75 launched in 2000, Interplay MAM will integrate seamlessly into the company’s existing Avid infrastructure, which includes Avid ISIS® 7000 shared storage solution, NewsCutter® editing software, Nitris® DX and Avid Mojo® DX hardware, iNEWS® Command, and AirSpeed® Multi Stream HD video server for ingest and playout.

The decision to invest in Interplay MAM was a natural choice for Johan Eriksson, director of technology and Robert Svensson, assistant technical manager at Kanal 75. “It was a logical next step to implement Interplay MAM into our current Avid all-digital broadcast environment,” said Eriksson.

Svensson continues: “We record thousands of races each year—both local and international—and needed a reliable, productive, and open media asset management system. Avid Interplay MAM fits perfectly with our requirements and enables us to manage and monetise our media and metadata in ways that we simply couldn’t achieve before. We’re very excited about the possibilities that Interplay MAM brings to the table.”

Throughout the consultation process Kanal 75 worked closely with Avid Professional Services to ensure a seamless integration of the system into its existing workflow, and to fully understand and take advantage of Interplay MAM’s different components and functions. Anders Lundström, senior enterprise account manager at Avid Sweden, led the process: “Kanal 75 knew exactly what they wanted the business to gain from their investment in Avid Interplay MAM. We listened to Kanal 75’s requirements and built a system to achieve their desired outcome - to make money with their content, which is ultimately the goal of any content owner.”

Kanal 75’s system is currently being implemented and is expected to go live in December.
