Strange jump when I use transition:

    Hello,

I am having a very annoying transition issue on an image.

Pic1: arrow points to green line at the bottom.

Pic2: arrow points to NO green line at the bottom.

Between one frame, there is a slight vertical jump on the image. I can not figure it out. Rendered or not rendered it is an issue. It happens at the end of any type of quick transition (also happens on film dissolve).

    Any ideas?

The image is 5105 x 2903. I import it as a jpeg with Resize image to fit format raster setting.

    The project is 1920 x 1080.

I have seen this some times with titles.

Rendering before exporting cures it here.

Re: Strange jump when I use transition:

    Hi George,

I tried rendering and it still happens. grrrrr! This is driving me nuts! I am sure it is something simple.

In the meantime, I found a workaround by just using Avid FX-Transition effect and creating keyframes on the opacity. That works but takes much longer than a quick transiton.

Re: Strange jump when I use transition:

I opened up an older project today and I am getting the same strange jump. :(

I feel like I have tried every configuration when importing images and graphics.

Can someone please try to download the image below:

    www.aguayuda.org/Uploads/Toilet-Test-Square.zip

Import it into a 1080 - 29.97 project and then add a quick transition and see if it jumps? If it does not jump, what were the settings you used to import the image.

I really need to figure this out.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks,

    Hello,

I can't believe I am the only one with this issue regarding imported images and issues with quick transitions.

The only way I have it working is by creating a dissolve with Avid FX. I wonder what the connection is between quick transitions and images. Should I report this as a bug? If so, where?

    Thanks!

    Two things come to mind.

    a) check to make sure "boarder" is not checked in the effect controller. It is now defaulted to "on".

    b) in the "General" settings, make sure effect aperture is set to UTI601 and not DV25.

I have seen this setting again and don't understand it.

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, I could not find either setting. Could you provide more detail or a screen shot?

Under the settings tab (next to the bins tab), select "General". A pop-up window will appear, check the setting.

    Maybe it's your Nitris box.

Re: Strange jump when I use transition:

I can't find the setting you are referring to either gspfilmworks.

I did add the 3D Warp effect to an imported image. If I keep the plain border on with "metal", the quick transition works! :) between two images.

If the border is "plain", it will not work. What does this mean? Hmm

Re: Strange jump when I use transition:

I am getting closer to a good solution. :)

I am getting the strange jump when I import two images at 1:1MXF and put a quick transition between them.

However, if I import the two images at say 220X MXF and put a quick transiton, there is NO JUMP!

    :)

So I guess for now, any images, I will bring in at 220x MXF. Strange that 1:1 is giving me issues. Can anyone test out on their system if they are having problems too when they import images at 1:1?

    Thanks!
