    Avid Media Composer 6.03 crashing

I'm using Avid Media Composer 6.03 on my 2012 Mac Book Pro with Mountain Lion.

I have a project I'm working on 1080p 23.976. Everything was working okay until recently after I imported green screen

footage from After Effets. Now I can't open Avid it keeps crashing and giving me Exception: AMPi Error,

errorCode:4294962288 followed by Alert "Segmentation fault" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0. Does anybody

have any solutions on what I could do? It would be much appreciated.

    Thank You

"Segmentation fault" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0.

This comes up fairly frequently and the posted solution is to right click on Macintosh HD and choose "get info". Then in the permissions pane, set "everybody" to "read/write".

Re: Avid Media Composer 6.03 crashing

    Hi all,

Greetings from the Great Land Down Under.

I hate to burst the bubble but setting everyone to Read/Write permissions does not prevent this error.  I have a Mac Pro 2 x 2.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8Gb 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM running OSX v10.7.2 and Symphony v6.0.1

I am going to try 6.0.3 (though this error was supposed to have been "fixed" in 5.5.2)

Not holdiong my breath though.  It has gotten to the point I am just too frightened to open the Media Tool without doing a "Save All" first.

Makes me want to go to Windows 7!

    Cheers,

Re: Avid Media Composer 6.03 crashing

It's not the fix-all solution to the problem but the permissions problem is a common cause hence why people should look at it, just in case.  We have no permission issues here with our hardware but we still look at the permissions, or hard drive format to see if it's ntfs, if we've noticed somebody has decided to bring in an external drive.

After that, if the problem persists then we start to look elsewhere and do more testing.

Re: Avid Media Composer 6.03 crashing

I'm getting the exact same error code. 4294962288. AMPI somesuch

    AMC 6.0.0

on Mac Pro 2x2.66 6 core

    OS 10.7.5

Cutting the same TV show for 2 years and suddenly this error pops up when trying to play in timeline.

Not corrupt media. Issue persists across multiple projects.

Have already implemented permissions fix suggestion.

Source or Record timeline same issue.

    Scrolls OK.

Reset PRAM resolves issue but can't keep shutting down.

Downloaded 6.0.3 but have not installed for fear that symptoms will return.

    Please Advise.

Only new variable is installing protools 10.3.2.47 patch.

    Gracias,

    Kothmann

    Kothmann:

You should go ahead and download and install 6.0.3.4 to get all the latest patches and fixes.
