    Timeline redraw issue

    Hello,

The editor I'm working with is seeing some odd behavior on his timeline (I'll try to get a screenshot next time it happens), but basically, the timeline window turns solid gray with redrawn lines of what SHOULD be there every few hundred pixels. Then, wherever he moves the playhead, that part of the timeline is redrawn, so if he were to play, the playhead would "draw" the timeline behind it. Switching away from the app and switching back seems to clear it up, but we can't yet find a definitive way to make it happen.

We're running MC 6.5.2 on 2010 Mac Pro with 10.7.2 installed, 12 GB of RAM and only ISISManager and iChat running in the BG.

    thanks!

I've seen this also on MC 6.03.3. Restarting program clears it up but sometimes it occurs several times a day, other days never.

Could be worth checking out the readme for the just released 6.5.2.1 to see if any of the numerous bug fixes is appropriate to your issue.

    Re: Timeline redraw issue

Thanks for the replies David and Andrew,

I checked the readme and while it does mention Timeline redraw issues, the fact that it's been around since 6.0.3.3 doesn't give me hope that it's been resolved. If I could replicate it reliably, I'd download a trial and make it happen on my laptop to see if the issue is solved.

On the upshot, the change log did mention a couple of bugs that had been really pissing me off lately.

If anyone else can ring in on how to recreate this issue with more frequency, I'd appreciate it. It'd make it easier to try and avoid whatever is causing it.

Hi Dennis, I did notice this in the new 6.0.3.4 readme (under fixed in 6.0.3.3)

Bug Number: UDevC00175431. There will be fewer redrawing issues in the Timeline
during rapid editing operations. In particular, editing with Clip Frames enabled has been
    improved in this release.

    Re: Timeline redraw issue

Andrew! That's exactly the same as the bug in 6.5.2.1 so maybe it IS fixed! I'm not sure if the bug number matches, but I read that phrase several times and I'm certain the wording is the same. I'd check for sure, but I'm out of the office today.

Thanks for sharing that. I'm gonna back up my machine and install it first thing monday to see if I can break things. Keep me posted on your end if you see it come back. And since you can't prove it hasn't returned since it can't be reliably repeated, I'll just assume that silence means it's gone.

    Thanks again. Very helpful!

    Re: Timeline redraw issue

MC 8.4 has made this redraw issue insane on 2x HPZ40 with nivdia quadro fx 3800 driver 340.84

Strangely it is better on a Z420 with a quadro k2000.

All the right versions of QT and WM

    It makes editing difficult.

OK so a complete uninstall of video drivers and clean install seems to have fixed the isue.  Bit of a school boy error.
