Fast Import on Media Composer 7.0.2

    Hello.

I´m working in Media Composer a 25p PAL Project and I´m trying to import (as Fast Import) QuickTime files (720 x 576) rendered in After Effects using Avid 1:1x codec with following setup:
    RESOLUTION: SD PALi
    COLOR IMPUT: ITU R-601

This clips aren´t import as Fast Import in Avid.
    What´s the problem??

In Media Creation, Import tab, Video Resolution is set as 1:1.

Both machines have installed same Avid version codecs.

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure this is the issue, but you state your project is 25p - progressive.

You state you are creating PALi - interlace.

That mismatch could keep Fast Import from working.  Create a PALi project and try there.

    Good luck,

    Jef

    Thanks Jef.

I think this isn´t a project problem, maybe codec. From After Effects I try to render AVID 1:1x (SD PALp) QuickTime and clips results are interleaced.

When I worked with MC 5.5.3 in 25p PAL projects the correct way was export clips from After Effects as Avid 1:1x (SD PALi)

    Thanks!

It´s a Pal SD bug that comes and goes over versions, just switch advanced codec settings to p and you´ll get i.

Mpeg50 should give you correct properties if you don´t really need uncompressed SD.

    Thanks mjolnarn.
I need uncompressed SD. Clips from AE are CG renders with graphic elements.

    Any solution?

If this is what you see, you wrote the opposite in your initial post, set the advanced codec settings to Pal i as said and you might get progressive.

I actually thought that this bug was fixed but haven´t checked for a while, will do maybe tomorrow if you don´t confirm that this is the current ( 7.02 ) situation

    Yes mjolnarm.

I try Pal p only to check if maybe bug was solved in 7.0.2 version.
From AE correct exports needs to use opposite settings; "i" for progressive clips an "p" for interleaced clips.

    Sorry for my english.

If your AE renders are 1:1x, but you're selecting 1:1 as your import resolution, that might be the issue.  It's been awhile since I've worked in SD, but I thought 1:1x was an HD codec?

I would put money on it.  Avid 1:1 is an 8-bit codec, and 1:1x is a 10-bit one as I understand it.  You can't fast import a 10 bit codec as 8 bit media.
