Two Problems, Possibly Related: Unable to AMA Link or Drag & Drop clips into bin

    Hi,

I was running Composer 5.5.2 (which worked fine) on Windows 7 until a hard drive crash forced me to upgrade my internal main drive.  As long as everything else was being installed I went ahead and upgraded to Composer 7.0.3, still on Windows 7.  Thing is, whenever I try to drag a MOV (or any) file into a project bin to work with it I get a Windows error that reads: "Avid Out of proc Quicktime App has stopped working." Additional details are:

    Problem signature:

      Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

      Application Name: QuickTime_OPServer.exe

      Application Version: 1.0.0.1325

      Application Timestamp: 527cef13

      Fault Module Name: QuickTime_Wrapper.avx

      Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.1325

      Fault Module Timestamp: 527cee98

      Exception Code: c000001d

      Exception Offset: 00040212

      OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

      Locale ID: 1033

      Additional Information 1: 0a9e

      Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

      Additional Information 3: 0a9e

      Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

AVID additionally states "Exception: A serious error has occured" and tells me to re-start the application "immediately".

I am also unable to AMA link anything in the bin.  There are no Windows errors involved, but AVID states:

"You may need to download & install the AMA plug-in from the Avid AMA website."

It provides a link (http://www.avid.com/US/products/Avid-Media-Access/), but among all the downloadable plug-ins, Quicktime (nor AVI, another SD format I was using) isn't available.

The phrase "Avid Out of proc Quicktime App has stopped working" does not appear in the knowledge base.  Any ideas?  I haven't been able to use my AVID software in months, instead I have been downgrading my footage into less capable programs, that edit fine but at lower resolution--which is of course maddening.

    Hi Eric

I suspect you just need a reinstall of QuickTime. Make sure you're on the latest version of QuickTime thats compatible with Windows 7.

If this doesn't help, then cross check your system with the system requirements in the MC ReadMe document.

    Good luck

Thanks.  I tried a Quicktime reinstall but it was before another hardware upgrade so I'me going to try again.  Will keep my fingers crossed.
