MC8, New Mac Pro and BMD UltraStudio 4k

I am in the process of upgrading my system and am looking into options for I/O. The BlackMagic Design UltraStudio 4k looks great and I can use it with Resolve as well. However, I have been seeing a lot of people complaining about system crashes, incompatible drivers, etc. Has anyone successfully set up a system with the New Mac Pro, MC8 and the UltraStudio 4k?

There's no info on either the Avid website (compatibility documents appear to be 2 years old!) and BMD only refers to MC7.

What are my other options for I/O seeing how my Nitris box won't work? Thunderbolt connectivity is preferred but if I have to get a breakout chassis, that is also a possibility.

Any information would be greaty appreciated.

    Thanks!

We're in the same boat as you, but if BM don't bring out an update for their DesktopVideo software in the next couple of days, we're going to go for the Aja IoXT.

As it stands, the latest BM driver works okay, until you press CapsLock and then Media Composer instantly crashes.

Re: MC8, New Mac Pro and BMD UltraStudio 4k

Just started testing new Mac Pro 10.9.4 and Desktop Video 10.1.1 on Avid MC 7.0.4.

Seems to work so far just need to add the older gear from the Nitris DX.

We did find a bug that if you disconnect the HDMI Out on the fly and tried to hook it up again, you will get a ton of BOB errors in Avid.

The fix is to reboot computer.

I will keep testing with other options.
