    FrameFlex on clip not showing

    MC ver 8.3.1, OSX 10.8.5

I have a 1920x1080 sequence.  I have a 1280x720p shot in the sequence.  This shot shows a motion adapter, but not the Frameflex adapter on the clip in the sequence.  I can view the clip in the bin and see what FrameFlex is doing, but I have no way to manipulate it in the sequnce.

Yes.  Frameflex does not show up.  The clip shows nothing when effects mode is opened.

    Done that several times.

I have SD material in the sequence that is allowing FrameFlex to be accessed at the clip level.  Just not 1280x720 60p clips.

    Hi Jef,
MC decided not to apply a FrameFlex in this case.
Since HD 720 & HD 1080 have the same aspect ratio (16:9) and bounds boxes (1600.0*900.0), there is no need to spatially reformat the images.
Also, since the dimensions of the clip are smaller than that of the project, there is less likelyhood that the user will perform pan & scan.
So just a simple upscale operation occurs here.
Of course, you can force a FrameFlex by adding a custom framing box to the clip in Source Settings.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Re: FrameFlex on clip not showing

    Bruce,

Thank you for the explanation.  But let me suggest this is not the best method based on image quality.  Let me explain.

Look at a situation where I need to resize this 1280x720 clip which is in 1920x1080 sequence.  And I only need to do one section of this clip which used multiple times in the sequence.  To accomplish this, I would need to apply an additional effect, Resize for example.  This means that this image will have undergone two sets of sizing, interpolation, filtering and rasterization.  This is most definitely not a good way to work.

In my opinion, if Frameflex must be applied to a clip at all, it should be adjustable at the clip level for every clip.  That would be a consitent UI.

But even better would be a way to totally disable it when needed.
