    OS Volume ID Failure

Made the classic mistke of upgrading MC to 8.4.0.37275. (MAC)

Now I can't link to media now.

"Failer getting thr OS volume ID for this volume"

Quite a problem, especially as it won't import either, telling me:

"There are no media drives available you can only import shot logs"

Anyone had this happen. MC works just fine with anything linked or imported before the upgrade, just no. more.

The RIAD drives are fine, just as they were before. The only thing different is the update.

    I am totally screwed!

    Re: OS Volume ID Failure

I have to admit I didn't notice the number. However I had only signed up to V8 in February.

I also thought there was a phone support, but the message says I am not entitled to one. What exactly is the nature of support with this subscription thingy?

    Re: OS Volume ID Failure

Its a nuicance. It went away for a while, but back this afternoon after a whole day with no problems.

it appears to be related to the user settings. Try a new project and it will probably all work in that... For a while.

this does seem to be an internal software issue that keeps tripping up the setings somehow.

shame i had to upgrade to v8 i was quite happy in version 7.

    Re: OS Volume ID Failure

Yeah, I tried a new project and new user settings and I was still having the same issues.

I reinstalled and updated all my AMA plugins, and retsarted the machine a few times, and that somehow cleared it up for now...

Same problem. If I restart the computer it works for a while, then starts again with this issue.

    Re: OS Volume ID Failure

Is there any follow-up to this issue?

We have seen the problem on MC 8.3.1 on Yosemite 10.10.5.  Seems to be triggered by mounting external USB3 drives prior to starting MC.

Reboot followed by mounting the drive(s) while MC is running does appear to clear the issue.

    Re: OS Volume ID Failure

I have seen the problem on 8.4.2 on Osx 10.9.5 with an externat USB3 drive. I haven't actually solved the problem: i just backupped the whole thing on an external esata drive connected to the thunderbolt port with a Lacie adapter and it worked.
