    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    Hi,

I have done as you said and the Console says nothing when the playback stops. No Message at all.

    What does it mean?

If this can help  the playback issue only happens on Avid. No issues in FCP Pro or playing Quick time or VLC.

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    @elracador:

    elracador:
    Exception: StreamingPlayConsumer::ExecutePass TIMEOUT

    Ah! Now we're getting somewhere.

StreamingPlayConsumer::ExecutePass TIMEOUT basically means your system can't keep up with Media Composer. Here are some common troubleshooting steps:

    1. Remove OpenIO_VirtIO.acf. Even if you don't use a breakout box, it's one more thing off the list. Step-by-step instructions are here:

    http://community.avid.com/forums/t/135998.aspx

    2. Media storage checklist:

    • Are you using separate storage for your media?

    • Is it a RAID, 0 or 5?

    • How is it connected? Thunderbolt? eSATA? USB 3?

(Edit: if your system specs are accurate, you have an internal 4 TB RAID0. Nice.)

    3. Check your media storage for speed:

    • Use Blackmagic Disk Speed Test to see how fast your drives perform.

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blackmagic-disk-speed-test/id425264550?mt=12

Post a screenshot of the numbers.

    4. Is DaVinci Resolve 12 installed on this machine? If so, it would rescan drives every 5-10 minutes (almost on the button), dragging down drive performance. At least, it used to.

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    1. Remove OpenIO_VirtIO.acf.= DONE ( Issue still there)

    2. Media storage checklist: All on the VIDEO DISK = 4 To RAID 0 ( 2x2To 7200 trs Seagate Barracuda)

    • How is it connected = SATA internal

    3. Blackmagic Disk Speed Test : DONE

    http://postimg.org/image/qab5ely8r/15e63d10/

    4. Is DaVinci Resolve 12 installed on this machine = NO

Could it be the integrated Audio Card ?

Do tou think it will be worth a try to use an external avid audio card ?

I am really getting crazy on this.

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    One last set of questions:

    1. What kind of a media are you playing back?

    • Codec - e.g. DNxHD? DNxHR?

    • Bitrate? - e.g. DNxHD 220? DNxHD 36?

    • Playback mode? - Yellow/Green mode? Green mode?

    2. Does this happen with clips in the bin, or in a multi-layered sequence?

About the Hackintosh thing, I ran MC on Hackintosh's for years. So I'm not automatically going to that. But, like you said earlier:

    elracador:

Same Ram and almost same everything. Only difference are

    OS, MOBO and CPU.

it could be the integrated audio card.

What happens if you open Console in MC and input this command after the exception?

    debugadm

    Tell you anything interesting?

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    Codec : DNxHD 36

Playback mode it happens with any mode: full, half and low quality

It happens on both clips and sequences

I have typed you cmd in the COSOLE:

"The CoreAudio Host Audio & 1394 Audio ADM is stopped. Pos 0 Susp. 0 Speed 1.000000

The CoreAudio Host Audio ADM is stopped. Pos 0 Susp. 0 Speed 1.000000

DIO meters okay, srate 48000, strmX 1

The 1394 Audio ADM is stopped. Pos 0 Susp. 0 Speed 1.000000

    ADM debug value is 0"

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

Sorry. I know this is frustrating. Would you be willing to try something else?

    1. Make a new project. Say 1080p @ 25fps? (25fps in France, right?)

    2. Transcode 1-2 clips in another codec, not DNxHD 36.

    3. Play a clip, see what happens.

Also, when you go to System Preferences -> Sound, which device is selected for Output? If you have an Avid audio device (mBox preamp?), I'd give it a go.

Would you be willing to attach your System Report? Kinda running out of ideas. (Sorry.)

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    Just to let you know.

I have just grabbed a Mbox Pro 2 and set Audio in Avid to Mbox.

    The Issue is stille there.

The strange thing about the Codec or the Project is that We have another Avid Station (hack on OS 10.8.5 with MC 8.4.5 same GPU but different Mobo and CPU ) and it works .

So it can't be the reels.

Where I find the system report ?

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

    To recap:

    1. Your media drive's fast enough.

    2. The GPU works on your other workstation with this media.

    3. You connected an Audio mBox device.

    4. You disabled Fast Scrub.

    5. You removed OpenIO_VirtIO.acf.

    6. You're using:

      • OS X - 10.10.5

      • MC - 8.4.5

What's the Mobo model? Got a link to it?

Or do you know the audio hardware? Did you need to patch AppleHDA.kext to get audio out? Does it work?

(Sorry. Really grasping at straws here...)

    Re: MC 8.5 Playback issue

First of all many thanks really for the help and energy you are putting into trying to solve this issue.

    I really appreciate.

    Answering your points:

    1. Your media drive's fast enough. = YES

    2. The GPU works on your other workstation with this media. = YES

    3. You connected an Audio mBox device. = YES

    4. You disabled Fast Scrub. = YES

    5. You removed OpenIO_VirtIO.acf. = YES

    6.   • OS X - 10.10.5 and 10.9.5 ( 2 SSD trying boths)

         • MC - 8.4.5

    MOBO = GA Z87 XUD3H bios F8

    CPU = i7 4970K

I had to patch AppleHDA.kext to get audio out and it works so far with no issues ( beside Avid)

but I have also tried with an external audio card Mbox Pro 2 and didn't change it.

    You're welcome!

Here's another thought: its network connection. Is it connected over Ethernet? Wi-Fi? If Wi-Fi, can you disable it and try again?

    Good Tought.

The computer wasn't on internet neather connected to an ethernet.

But I removed the ethernet kext and this didn't change the issue.

I think I will buy a new mobo and give it  a try.

It's my last resource. After that I will not know what to do.

thanks for all . I'll let you know as soon as I have it done.
