serious performance problem after update 8.5.1

    Hi,

I've updated to 8.5.1 from 8.4 or 8.3 (can't really remember). Suddenly I can't playback Multicams (Group Clips) even with only three cameras in the quadsplit.

Never had issues of these kind before!

    Can anybody help? Thanks,

    Michael

    add information:

the musltcam playback starts, but stops after a couple of seconds randomly without error message. sometimes Avid including the mouse freezes for a couple of seconds.

I also experienced random playback stops recently. In my case it turned out to be the system drive not having enough free space. You really need more than a few GBs.

Create a new user to see if it makes a difference and make sure you have the correct nvidia driver.

I just downgraded to 8.4.5 and all is working without problems again. Seems to be a performance/compatibility issue of 8.5.1 ???

    Anybody shares the same experience?

worked for 3 hours in a row without problems on 8.4.5!

So is anybody else encounting performance problems with multicam clips in 8.5.1 and having an ideo to solve this?

Or do I really have to buy a new PC to take advantage of avid beyond 8.4.5...

    Thanks,

Re: serious performance problem after update 8.5.1

Are you storing your media files on your system drive?  If so, that doesn't sound like a good idea at all - the system is trying to pull all system commands, from all programs, PLUS three streams of multicam media, from the same drive, all at the same time.

And what kind of media is it?

Regardless, still not sure why you're seeing a performance difference between 8.4.5 and 8.5.1.

Re: serious performance problem after update 8.5.1

certainly the media files come from a different fast raid drive. they are dnxhd 85 or 120 but that really does not matter. as I wrote there are absolutely no problems in mc 8.4.5. the problem occurs only with mc 8.5.1...

    thanks for help,

    michael

it looks like 8.5.2 has solved my problem - performance is back and nearly as good as in 8.4.5.

    Cheers
