    PluralEyes 4 vs MC8.5 A/V Sync

Just wondering how MC's A/V sync compares with using PluralEyes. PluralEyes 4 is the latest but it doesn't support MC (there is no AAF support). This is what Red Giant said:

"We decided to remove Avid support because it proved to be a very technically difficult host to support, which resulted in a high number of problems for customers.  We strive to provide the same effortless experience on all supported host apps and we felt we weren’t able to do that for our Avid customers. Until we are able to provide a pain-free solution that truly supports the Avid workflow, we decided to discontinue our support."

How good is MC8.5's A/V sync in comparison?

    Thanks

Don't know how 8.5 is, but the company I work for (v.7) managed to get Red Giant to agree to sell us v.3.5 of PE and so far so good.

For me, PluralEyes is still more reliable and faster, and still works fine as of Avid 8.5.1.  Don't "upgrade" to 4.

    Thanks for the replies.

I did a test with PL4 as it has a syncdrift function. It seemed to have worked very well with some test footage I used.

I presume PL3.5 is prefered because it integrates with MC rather then PL4 which will have to be used standalone? I've done it manually in the past and I don't what to go through that ever again.

I found out if you get PL4, you can use the 3.5 version. Red Giant also said the following:

"Please be aware PluralEyes 3.5 will no longer be updated for support with new versions of Media Composer past v8.5."

Pluraleyes is a standalone no matter which version you use.  Pluraleyes 4 won't export an Avid-compatible AAF, forcing you to create a new set of synced files.
