    Floating License Server

    Hi Guys,

If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it...

Installed Flexnet, everything looked great - Reserverd laptops and they showed up in my devices. Was able to activate the licenses and everything looked great.

Took the laptops home and a few hours later they had lost activation and I was unable to open MC.

I didn't see the 'Checkout' option in Application Manager, either?

I DID download from the DC, though - version 8.5.3 as I heard it was particularly stable with El Capitan... Is this causing me the issue?

    Thank you in advance!

Checking in with our FLS experts, while waiting, did you get error message when opening MC?

    Re: Floating License Server

Thank you for your reply, Ralph!

I am opening Avid and the "How would you like to activate your software' box appears and the application manager shows my license and not activated.

Is the 'Check out' option still a feature?

    Thanks,

To checkout a license on the client:

    1. Launch Application Manager from the client.
    2. Under the Licensing tab, select "Floating" for the activation method.
    3. Tick the "Checkout" box (see image below) and choose from the available checkout-lengths in the drop-down menu.

    4. Choose "Activate"

Once activated, you can click "Details" for checkout expiration information.

    Re: Floating License Server

'Checkout' isn't appearing for me when I select 'Floating' ? Only 'License Server' and 'Backup License Server'

Am I using the wrong Application Manager?

I'm no expert but I think you're missing this one.

A license "Checkout" enables a user to temporarily tie an activation from a Floating License Server to a client machine in order to run the software when not connected to the server network.  This is useful in situations where there is no network access or no ability to connect to a specific network via VPN, such as a field reporter needing to run the software while in a remote location, or a student needing to work on a project while at home.

A license checkout requires the client/device first be added to the "Reservations" list in the FlexNet Device Manager server software. For information on how to add a reservation in FlexNet Device Manager, please see the Floating License Server Administration Guide (see section: Reservations View in FlexNet Device Manager).

    Regards,

    Ralph

Yeah, odd... I did add the devices to the reservation... But 'Check Out' didn't appear for me.

Seeing the same thing - has someone figured this out?

[and yes: We did reserve a license to the device ID in the Flex Manager]
