    New Blue Titler

It's probably my incompetence... but I'm really struggling with using New Blue Titler at all... So badly thtat I'm resorting to going back to doing titles in 1080 and importing them.

Can anyone recommend an idiots guide somewhere?  All I want to do is make some simple rolling titles, but I'm finding it almost impossible to edit the text, then difficult to change anything on the timeline (as with normal Avid titles you could adjust the length on the timeline...)  Worse still, with the rolling titles, they seem to be cutting out before the end ..

Weirdly, the 3d stuff works well, but I don't need that - just normal, basic titles that I can do quickly....

    Help Please!!!

    Re: New Blue Titler

I'm in the same boat. The New Blue Titler is an extremely complicated bloatware, overkill for simple roll, crawl, and lower third titles, while if I want shiny stunning graphics I handle the task to a graphic artist, I'm only an editor after all. Any link to New Blue Titler tutorials for dummies are welcome, but it would be even better if the Avid Title Tool becomes resolution indipendent, or at least 4k compatible.

I see this criticism of TP quite often. I'm surprised NB has not addressed this with better tutorials.

    Re: New Blue Titler

Its why so many Avid users have continued to press for the standard Avid titler to be updated for greater than HD and some of the legacy bugs to be addressed.

That fact that the current Avid title tool is still 32 bit indicates its lack of any sort of position within the product moving forward.

And NBT is just not the right tool for lots of simple title tasks.

Same here - I have been struggling with it as well - sometimes I just go back to Title tool.  I have been looking for a simple tutorial on the basics as well -  They do respond to support when you contact them -

The scoop is http://community.avid.com/forums/p/183187/851670.aspx#851670 fingers crossed, but if the Title Tool as basic it is today would only work at least in all of the frame sizes allowed by DNxHR I'll certainly quit struggling with the NB titler and stop searching for tutorial (and will uninstall it with no regrets). Out of curiosity: is Marquee still alive? Not comfortable with that either, but I'd like to know if it's mantained or abandonware.

I used it last about a month ago, on a iMac running 8.7.2 whilst we were trying to get a special character (for a eastern European language) that we couldn't display with Avid's title tool.

Still seems to be working but it's exactly the same as I remember... so I tend to regard it as limboware.

PS. Marquee also couldn't display this character, so it was a quick trip over to After Effects.

    Hello Steve

I have had NB Titler Pro 4 installed in MC.XXX for ages now I have the current MC . 8.9.4 installed and when I drop NB onto the time line it crashes the machine instantly , I can make a title with the stand alone version and then import the final rendered result into Media Composer ...

I know from experience no doubt it is a Resource issue but interestingly it ran ok in Media Composer up to the current version so I need to establish just what is the current min spec for Titler Pro in Avid ...

Advice on current min spec would be helpfull before considering upgrading the machine - NB Titler Pro 4 is the only App that is an issue -

    Re: New Blue Titler

I created a short tutorial describing a simple method for creating a credit roll using Titler Pro 6 in Media Composer. I think this same workflow will work with Titler Pro 5 as well. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/eCUMcDcBujI

    Re: New Blue Titler

Hi Rinso - Are you running the recommended graphics drivers for MC 8.9.4?

I was running TP 5 successfully under MC 8.9.x and then I upgraded to TP 6. You are probably eligible for TP 5 (take a look in your Avid account to see if TP 5 is available to you).

Sorry - I don't have any words of wizdom to for you particular issue with TP 4.

By doing some reading over the forums it still seems that the next to come Avid Title Tool will be limited to HD, ouch!

    Hello Steve and all

I purchased NB Titler Pro 4 long ago when we had a requirement for Lower Thirds etc it worked ok up to now but for some reason crashes this light weight machine  now ...

To conclude i have re-installed Titler Pro 2 Avid original install and that works OK , not having any immediate requirement for anything higher I'm not all that fussed about it

    Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

    Core i5 4670

    16Gb DDR 3

    5 X Kingmax SSD 240Gb

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2047 Mb

again ...  Titler 4 crashes it and Titler Pro 2 is ok ... guess thar can be expected failing an upgrade one day maybe ...?

    Re: New Blue Titler

Hi Rinso; glad to know You're happy with NBTP, even though the older release. The thing is many of us do not need an unfriendly supertitler, difficult to learn and operate, but just need a simple titler for quick and dirty simple tasks, exactly what the Avid Title Tool is, or used to be, since video is 4k nowadays, while the Title Tool is not.

I also do not recommend it. I've had nothing but problems with it i'm afraid. I would recommend using After Effects to create your titles, export PNG and insert into Avid application. Quality looks razor sharp. Also looking forward to a new title tool from Avid.
