    Wrong Format error when Batch Re-importing PSD

    Grettings all

    Has anyone else see this:

    1) Create graphic in Photoshop 3840x2160. Save as .psd

    2) Import .psd file into Media Composer 1080p/25 project. Edit into timeline.

    3) Jump back into Photoshop later to make a changes to the same graphic. Save under same .psd filename

    4) Back in Media Composer, delete media of original imported .psd

    5) Select Batch Re-Import. Import

    6) Resulting re-import now shows "Wrong Format"

     

    I only get this with .psd files and I recall this workflow worked perfectly in the past for me.

    Any ideas? Where am I going wrong?

    Using MC 8.10 on Win10

    I guess the first thing to do is to discover if this is a general import error with your modified graphic or some bug with batch importing.

    Have you tried simply importing your modified graphic?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Importing the modified graphic manually does work (this is also my current workaround for the problem). I only get the error when trying to batch re-import.

    It would be great if I can find a solution to this problem, because obviously batch re-import would save me the drama of going back into all my sequences and manually replacing all the updated PSD graphics. I'm working on a ten part series...

    This may well be a new bug! I'm assuming you're using the same import options when you batch re-import. You could try overriding these setting in the 'import options' and try some other options in the 'current settings'.

    Thanks. I'll check my settings and report back. This started happening on my system around the last three or so releases 8.9.x to the current 8.10

    Tested this and I can confirm that this only seems to happen with Batch Re-Import. I've now checked and both the Batch and normal Import sets of settings are the same

    Happy to report that issue has been resolved by Avid Support. Simply get rid of 8.10, install 2018.01 and Batch Re-Import works perfectly with PSD files again.

    Hey I'm on 8.5.2 and am having serious issues with batch reimporting PSD, is an update the only option? I'm stuck with this version due to global company policies.This is what my issue looks like after a batch-reimport and relink. I see the MXF file is in MediaFiles but it won't show in timeline.

     

     

    Any idea?

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I recall this issue was very much linked to a specific MC version/s. In my case installing an updated version of Media Composer sorted out the issue.

     

    Perhaps the Avid folks present have another solution..?

    Hey Corne,

     

    thanks for your response, I will see if an update could be considered. This is a serious bummer. In the meantime, I've found it is also dependant on certain PSD versions. Some work, some don't.
