    Crash on startup

Hi. I'm new to the forum, but will try to supply the info needed. I have a MacBook Pro 8,1 (13-inch, Early 2011) running High Sierra (10.13.2). Processor is 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 16 GB memory, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB. I've installed the latest version of Media Composer | First (2018.1). When I try to start it up, it gets as far as the splash screen saying "Initializing Settings," and then I get a pop-up that says:

"The application Avid Media Composer First has quit unexpectedly. The system and other applications have not been affected. A report has been created that you can send to Avid to help identify the problem. Please help us fix the problem by describing what happened before the crash."

I've attempted to start it several times, always with the same result. Sometimes I've pressed the "Send to Avid" button to report the problem, and a couple times I've saved the crash log to my desktop. The crash log is mostly gibberish to me. I can post some or all of the contents if it would help.

Any assistance you can give me to fix this so the program starts up would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think you're right. I missed the processor spec. Thanks for your help--sorry about the rookie mistake. Embarrassed

    Re: Crash on startup

Is there any way to downgrade? Is there any version that runs on the i5 processor? How did you fix the issue?

    Many thanks!
