What is the best stabilizer? Better one than Image>Stabilize?

    MC 8.44

    Source 4K, output 1080

I need to stabilize a walk in 4K, want to get it smooth as with a dolly.

I applied the effect in Image > Stabilize and am not happy with the result. Is there a better stabilizer?

Or what am I doing wrong? Any tips?

    Which is the best stabilizer?

for me its hands down prodad mercalli v2.  do you research on what the latest version is but there is a plugin version that works with MC.

And this is strange, but in the past I ran the trial for the longest time.  It was unwatermarked and it ran as if it was free.

I did end up buying though..  Even better than what adobe does with stabelizing.

I will often use After Effects if I really want the shot to work and MC does funny stuff. -- I know the Avid in-application Stablizer has refining parameters, but I have never touched them. After Effects has some good customization and have found it will "save the day" with a shot I really need. I hope that helps.

I appreciate your tip, cls105, thank you again. But it is not possible to register at Propdad. Checked my Junkmail, but nothing, no reply.

I think Mercalli is amazing software. It makes you feel good. I still need to buy it. The demo is so much fun. Absolutely join to get offers. Otherwise, Region Stabilize handles most hiccups, for me.

I would agree that Prodad's Mercalli V2 plugin is very good. It's a shame that they do not appear to support Media Composer any longer (they have a number of V4 plugins for Edius, Premiere, Vegas, etc. but not for Avid).

The V2 plugin is good for up to MC 7.0 (it still works with MC 2018.12 as far as I know so that's something - recommend installing the trial version to verify that it works with the latest MC before purchasing).

Hopefully it keeps working for future versions of MC.

BTW - BCC also has a very good stabilizer - not as easy to use as Mercalli and not as fast but it's pretty good and sometimes does a better job and sometimes not.
