    new editing machine question

I am in need of a new PC. I am not techincal when it comes to this stuff so I need some advice. I am not a DIY person so that option is out. Im not opposed to having someone build me one if they are in southern cali.  I see a used HP z6 10 core  on BH for 1599 no graphic card. What are the thoughts on this. My price range is 1800 max.

What do you need the edit suite to be able to do?

    Offline? online? HD UHD 4K?

2.2 GHz isn't that quick I prefer less cores and more speed.

16GB is the minimum I'd select 32GB better 64GB even better.

An Nvidia Graphics card and an SSD boot drive

I want to future proof so something that can handle 4k. I know with my price range it won't be at the high end. I will look and find something with a higher speed. I thought the more cores the better. I do plan to install more gb. Most of what I am seeing comes with 16 standard.

Intel is coming out with G10 cpu's and MB manufatures will be producing a new motherboard called X299X -

i9 cpu's are coming down on price.  Research GEN 10 - and new GEN i9's.  Check with www.pugetsystems.com

see what they are doing.  If you want to push 4k - then maybe dual XEON's but pricey - also think about a good raid - if you want to DIY - then you need to research - otherwise by HP systems with duals - qualified by avid.

Symphony 2019.12- Win 10 pro (1809), Asus PrimeZ270 with i7 7700 cpu, Quadro P2000,(431.02) 64gig memory, 500gig SSD system drive, WD 5TB,and 2TB media... [view my complete system specs]
