What the monito resolution for Adrenaline 2.1.6 on hp xw8200

    Hello!
     I have a simple question:
What computer resolutions you running when you're using Adrenaline?

I have a dual monitor setup screen size 1920x1200 each (Apple monitors). On HP xw8000 and Quadro4 980 XGL everything works fine. But when I made an upgrade to HP xw8200/ Quadro FX 1400 I can only work in smaller resolutions 1280x1024, and smaller monitors!

In higher resolutions (and monitors) computer works fine but Adrenaline 2.1.6 won't recognize the external (Maxtor One Touch  I and II) firewire drives!

Did you know something about it?

    Thanks

1920 x 1280 while you can set will result in ADM video underrun errors.  The culprit is the nvidia display card.  Avid engineering does not believe that even with the latest nvidia display card, the 3400, that there is sufficient onboard memory to handle both the system displays and the avid interface at that resolution at this time.

    thank you for answers but...

"Avid engineering does not believe that even with the latest nvidia display card, the 3400, that there is sufficient onboard memory to handle both the system displays and the avid interface at that resolution at this time." ...  but Quadro4 980 XGL was/is sufficient???

All of my time I'm doing very complicated projects, with lots of bins, always opened and handy on screen positioned MC Adrenaline tools like Audio Tool, EQ, Motion and Effect Editor, Timecode Window etc. and it's very, very strange that one nVidia (rather old, certified) graphics card CAN work with my dual high-res screen/monitor setup while another (new, certified) CAN'T!!!

AVID!!! DO SOMETHING WITH IT!!! PLEASE!!!

The 980 XGL works at 1900 x 1200 for one monitor only.  If you are trying to set for two your asking the nvidia card to dispaly 3800 lines of video display + the Avid interface.  HP supplies the nvidia display cards on board when the cpus are purchased.  Please try to refrain from using caps, it appears you are yelling at us and all we're trying to do is help

Re: What the monito resolution for Adrenaline 2.1.6 on hp xw8200

Ok, sorry, I'm stop yelling, and thank you for your helpful hand but...

    To clarify:

One of ours MC Adrenaline 2.1.6 setup is xw8000 with nVidia Q4 980 XGL, 2 GB RAM and dual big Apple LCD Panels with 1920x1600 desktop size each. And everything works good even if I attach and work with 5 OneTouch FW drives at the same time.

Second one setup is MCA 2.1.6 on xw8200 reference platform with nV Q 1400, 2GB RAM and... two smaller NEC LCD panels, because of FW drives bad comunications in ... higher desktop resolutions (it's crazy for me...)

    and
what deferences are between 980 XGL and 1400 card that one (older) is working, another one (quite newer) no?
    and
who is guilty? Avid, HP or nVidia?

    BTW:
Even our Xpress Pro 4.3.1 works great with dual high resolution screen mode but only on xw8000/nV 980 XGL hardware configuration.

Re: What the monito resolution for Adrenaline 2.1.6 on hp xw8200

If you are getting that kind of performance from a 980 XGL thats great and from what I've heard its more that what Avid engineering anticipated or tested.  Suspect that if editors start to use flat panel monitors larger than 20 in as source and record monitors, eventually there will be enough demand for additional real estate.  when that day comes, however, is anyone's guess at this time.

Re: What the monito resolution for Adrenaline 2.1.6 on hp xw8200

According to nvidia.com site I found that both graphics card supports 2048x1536 screen resolution for each display at 85 Hz refresh, have same RAM, but differs in RAMDAC speed - curiously QuadroFX 1400 has faster 400MHz RAMDAC.
Therefore hardware specs are far beyond my LCD panels can display!

I think that MC Adrenaline has the best editor's tools but is really the big computer resource hog and has bad written program code. Sorry, but we have only two very limited scalable overlayed windows ("Player", "Record" monitors), audio level bars, few counters, and Timeline sequence bar which are realtime updated on screen display. Everything else is static. I know about OpenGL support but it works only for few effects.

Maybe Avid products interface programmers have to learn something from Quake4 or HalfLife display routines coders :)

Re: What the monito resolution for Adrenaline 2.1.6 on hp xw8200

I currently have dual 24" Dell widescreen on an FX1400 and the best I can do is run one monitor at 1920x1200 (right) and 1600x1200 (left).  This gives me the sharpest image as both are running native rez.  The Avid article refered above was my case.  I sure would love to run both monitors at full rez, so if you find a solution, please post it.  I wish I could try an FX3400 to see if that works, but can't justify the expense right now.  Good luck.

Just a reminder: You must use 60 Hz refresh rate wit TFT monitors . Anything above that pauses unnecessary strain on both the Nvidia and the monitors.

If it ain't broken you can still probably fix it

Avid engineering wasn't optomistic that the nvidia 3400 card would work displaying 2 monitors at 1920 x 1200 either
