    HDV Tape Decks

Hi, i have recently started a Student TV station at my University. We purchased Avid Media Composer Studio and have just set it up using a canon XH A1 to digitise footage. This is our only camera and I know that using it in this way is not good for the heads.

We may have access to some more funding about £2000, obviously the main piece of equipment we need is a tape deck. This is where I get lost, as there are lots of them out there, most cost a lot more than £2000, I would like to buy a HDV deck, so  we can use the Canon Camera to its full potential, but that is also able to ingest mini DV aswell and is compatible with Avid Media Composer.

    Any ideas?

sony hvr m10, only thing you'll get for the price (it's £1985 +VAT). Plays DV, DVCAM and HDV and has a built in LCD screen.

edit: the m10 has now been discontinued, replacement is hvr m15. No LCD screen but only 1379 ex VAT.

Thanks for your help, is the hvr m15 supported by Avid Media Composer? I looked under the deck setup and its not there. Any suggestions?

I am running the M25 in MC without a glitch. M15 should work. Use the M25 template and check how it works. Or use the M10 template. Or go for the generic template. If you need the M25 or M10 template contact me.
