Blu-Ray MPEG-2 output's audio is out of sync with video

    Hey All!

    I have a 720p 23.976 P2 project in MC 3.5.1.  I exported a sequence from that as a QT Ref.

Using TMPGEnc 4.0 Express, I encoded an MPEG-2 Blu-Ray file.  The picture and sound came out beautiful, but the sound seems to be delayed and out of sync with the picture.  Any ideas there?

These were my TMPGEnc settings:  NTSC Blu-ray (BDMV); 1280x720; 16:9; 23.976 fps; VBR; Linear PCM audio.

What happens if you drag the qt ref directly into Avid Dvd ?

Everything's fine if I do that and I reckon that would be enough, but I like the idea of everything working the way it should; it drives me crazy when little things aren't working.  I also feel more confident using a 3rd party encoding solution for DVD and/or Bluray file output because of the amount of control I am given over the process.  Avid DVD doesn't offer me that control and I'm uncertian of its efficiency/quality when taking a QT Ref and converting it to a DVD or Bluray.

What has been your experience with the "QT Ref directly into Avid DVD" Bluray workflow?  Is the final product of pristine quality?

For bluray, I haven´t seen any difference between preencoded files and files created by Avid Dvd and I really like the ability to export all the chapter marks together with the qt ref, it´s all in the manual for Avid Dvd.

For dvd, when I need 2 pass encoding, Avid Dvd will reencode all my preencoded files so I use version 6,3 of Sonic Dvdit Pro Hd on an XP sys with wmp 10, no reencoding of my files and the result is great.

If it is the same 23,976 project that is described in another thread, settings could be problematic, as Avid Dvd works for your bd creating, I would use that workflow.

You should be able to see the preview simulator in DVDit to verify a/v syns before you burn. There is an audio offset adjustment located in audio properties on the DVDit timeline. You can easily correct the sync there.

I never knew about the audio offset option in Sonic.  Thanks!  Very helpful.
