Avid AMA Problem with XDCAM HD: Visual C++ Assertion failed

    Hi there,

i have a problem with the AMA using a XDCam HD Disc.

it allways stops while scanning the disc with the following Error message:

    Visual C++ Runtime error

    Assertion Failed:

    Line: 159

And then something with the AMA Plugin Folder

    Exeption: result

If I try to import the files directly it works without any problems,

as well if I mount a XDCAM EX it works perfectly.

    Any Ideas

    thanks

    Mat

Not using AMA but when I get that error with importing I find that importing the proxies first often fools the XDCAM into importing the full res HD clips properly.

    Hi,

importing works allways fine,.... either the proxies or ther high res files.

the only thing is, if i insert a Disc in a Sony PDW U1 (latest drivers and firmware installed)

the MC starts scanning the disc and the locators, but it allways stops between 40% and 70%

with the "Visual C++ error message"

Re: Avid AMA Problem with XDCAM HD: Visual C++ Assertion failed

    Hi,

I tried different Versions of Visual C++ from Microsoft,

and firmwares for the XDCam drive, but nothing really solved the problem.

for me only the upgrade to MC 4.0 fixed the problem. (it was a 3.5 before)

sorry, but i wish you good luck and if you find a solution, maybe you

    can post it here

Re: Avid AMA Problem with XDCAM HD: Visual C++ Assertion failed

I have found that other program installs sometimes replace the C++ library with one that doesn't work for Avid.  I had this happen with AvidDVD.  I think the newest library is not the right library.

Try taking out all instances of the C++ library.  You could do a repair on the Avid installation but re-installing AvidDVD should put the right one back in.  I think sometimes newer libraries are the problem but I'm not sure in this case.

My solution to the problem isn't a real solution, but if you continually hit "Ignore" eventually the AMA clips will show up.
