    1080i dvcprohd export

I am working on a series that is shot and onlined at 1080i 59.94, DNX 220, we are on Symphony Nitris DS 4.05

the post audio house is asking for quicktimes in DVCproHD codec, which apparently is not an option in Symphony??

Reading online it seems the Avid version of this is the DNX 720p codec, is this right?

I have tried exporting using various settings but keep getting the message

"The Avid Codec cannot export using this frame size. The size must match the resolution picked in the resolution menu. Choose a different codec or adjust the frame size of the export"

    I have tried setting the codec as 720p/59.94 DNxHD 145 8-bit and 720p/29.97 DNxHD 75 8-bit

and setting the size to 1280x720 HD and HD 1280x720 16x9 (not sure what the difference is here)

and all combinations of the above but i keep getting the same error message

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help

    Cheers, Steve Jones

    Re: 1080i dvcprohd export

Avid's version of the DVCProHD codec is listed as DV100. This is the DVCProHD codec.

DVCProHD is a thin raster codec. In a 1080i/59.94 project the raster is 1280x1080. Select this raster and the Avid DV100 codec. At worst you should only have to send them the link (or installers) to download the DNxHD codecs.

    Re: 1080i dvcprohd export

    dear bob,

im working too with dvcpro hd but my camera scales25p 720/1280 up to 50i 1080/1920 on P2 card.

i need to give the client the fullhd raster (wich is allready produced - in dvcpro hd) what codec would be best for my export from avid mc311 and  avid mc 65 for encoding in mp4 ton tranfer through ftp (must be broadcast quality)

    thanks, greetins from berlin/germany

    Re: 1080i dvcprohd export

If you're looking for a file that you can export directly from Media Composer that is the best compromise between size and quality, I suggest exporting a XDCAM OP1a MXF file.

Starting in v6 this can be done directly from Media Composer using File > Export.

Or are you looking for a file to send to an encoder? If your footage is already DVCPro HD, export a Same as Source or QT Reference and bring this into the encoding software.
