    H.264 Codec crashes

Hi there, I am trying to export quicktimes from a HD 1080p 23.98 project, short clips, 10 sec each using the H.264 codec, video only and my Avid keeps crashing completely.

I am using Media Composer 4.0.5 on a HP xw8400 Quicktime version 7.6.4 NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700

Does anyone have any ideas why it is crashing...please let me know...

    thanks

    Irene

I have the same problem on my Lenovo! (Intel Core 2 @2.10GHz 2.10GHz, 4gb RAM). I am trying to export a 2minute and 40 second video with 3 video tracks, 2 audio and effects on all video (superimposition).

All that works is - exporting 1280x 720 HD when i want a 1080p export. Most of the time it will seem to work but a couple minutes in i get that error.

When I tried the second highest 1080 export in the QT export options i get a ACCESS VIOLATION exception,

    Can anybody help?

    Re: H.264 Codec crashes

Have you tried mixing down your video & audio tracks for the export? What about a QT Reference file, does that export without a mixdown? I think the problem is with the multiple tracks with the effects. Please let me know. Thanks.

I tried exporting a seperate sequence with an audio and video mixdown instead of all the tracks and that resulted in a ACCESS violation error.

I can export it as a QT reference but I am afraid I don't know what to do with that file, I have never used it in the past.

I have now tried exporting my QT from both after effects and sorenson squeeze (both trials). The sorenson actually exported it, the footage didnt look that great IMO but the main drawback was the watermark on it because the trial.

In after effects I got an error that was saying it couldnt export the footage because of memory. I have 4gb memory on a 32gb system so perhaps this is the problem? Is my computer not good enough?

Exact same problem today on a Mac with 24 Gb of RAM. It crashes with the same error code, then tells me that I'm out of memory and I have to restart.

Me too. On a Mac Symphony 5.0.4 - very frustrating. I have 12 cores and 8Gb of memory. I have to do alldrives and export on a laptop. I think I get the generic "Bus error" screen.

    Any fixes?

    Hi there Conleec,

I have exactly the same spec and problem - did you manage to fix this?  I find if I just keep on rebooting after about the 27th time, it will export the sequence.  I'd love to fix this though!

Why not Export a DNxHD QT and then Export the H.264 from the Quicktime Pro.
