    iNEWS Admin Suite

    Hi,

as Avid Certified Instructors we've done a lot of iNEWS Administrator- and Database Design Courses. In recent times our students are often astonished that there is no graphical tool for managing iNEWS. Instead there are lots of different files and stories that have to be customized. There is a confusing number of commands, parameters, output values, procedures and file locations that have to be known. We are thinking about wrapping common admin tasks into a single application. Then it would not be necessary to deal with the command line any longer.

What do you think are the most important tasks that such an application should cover?

    Re: iNEWS Admin Suite

    Great idea. I'd use...

    dbdump

    dblines

    date

    dbserver 17000000

    dbfree

    at commands

    dboriginal

    commands to doc logs

    edit for config, hosts etc.

    Go for it.

    Thanks,

    Joe
