...Hi Nnata: I partially agree about MC being so freakin hard to learn, or at least, I thought it was when I began in Xpress Pro and rapidly took the upgrade offer to go to MC after the big price drop. I came to Avid from a realtime drag and drop environment (and I'm going back to one with a future Velocity HD retrograde). I will continue to use our MC Adrenaline to 5.5.x, but no more upgrades shall we make for Avid ! No I also use Final Cut Studio 7.0.3 and it is faster than MC, but I find FC buggy and inadequate as a long form editor for documentary and feature film work. AMC is the best for those projects. However FCS is a great end to end finishing system. I watched both cartoons in this thread before and they are hilarious !

Maybe someday Avid will learn the new paradigm shift. It's not about buying up software bells & whistles - it's the user experience of learning and using those bells & whistles to quickly and easily create a viable product which exceeds customer’s expectations.

    "Maybe someday Avid will learn".
    Doubt it.

I can't help but ask - Why the negativity?  I think the new MC6 tips its hat in a number of ways to the workflows of Liquid - and from where I sit, improves on them.  And it certainly exceeds my expectations - or needs, for that matter.  And considering it cost about the same as Liquid for those who took up the offer, I don't see the problem. MC4.5 was a huge learning curve for me - MC6 would have been easier I think.  But then Liquid was a huge learning curve from using Pinnacle Studio.  The more features, the more capabilities, the more there is to learn.  That's obvious.  And I think Avid does listen to its customers.  Name any other company with an Advocate for users like Avid has.

I see too some things of Liquid growing inside MC.

Background rendering and we are ready to take of.

Ah George ... background rendering.  How I do miss that!  It seems I am for ever hitting the render button these days in order to preview stuff without scrolling ... one small change to an effect, and it's back to the render.

Mind you, with MC6 and 64 bit now - it is pretty quick and the waiting time is next to nothing, so not too bad.  But ...

On the other hand, Liquid did occasionally get in a twist if you were trying to do something complex while it was rendering a complex effect.  At least MC is very stable.

Re: Avid please bring Liquid back!!!!

Aside from some problems I've experienced with Liquid....one thing I have not seen anyone mention is the Trim Editing mode, the trim editing mode in Liquid is almost identicle to MC's trim editing mode which is the best on the planet...both Liquid & MC have the BEST ever trim mode editors.

They do share a lot of things.

And thinking of that it comes to mind that this "merge" was planned longer than we think.

Now it's time for the background things.

    Come on!

When I switched to MC some users were telling me that this is not possible

due to the use of MC at sharing platforms.

    Let's see.
