Audio imported to MC becomes louder / hotter

    Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded from Avid Xpress Pro on a PC to Media Composer on a Mac. We get WAVs (16 bit, 48k) from the Audio mastering suites and import them to Xpress Pro for years without any problems. Now with Media Composer the volume is visiably louder and sounds compressed (muffled).

I read this post http://community.avid.com/forums/p/88772/503910.aspx#503910 and changing from Centered to L/R helped a little, but it did not completely fix the problem.

Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions or suggestions to try?

    Thanks!

In the Import Settings under the Audio tab is "Apply attenuation/gain effect on import checked"?  If it is and there is a number entered in the box, then imported audio will be affected by that.
