    Job,

Not exclusively I popped in for a bit with my problems :)

    Fil,

    I have the same problem.

    Yellow/green mode seems fine.

Green 8/10 bit runs for about 20 secs with 1:1 10 bit media before dropping frames and then grinding to halt.

Runs for about 2 minutes with DNx36 media.

Runs slightly better if the P project is changed over to interlaced. (which is what Avid sets AJA to no matter which project type.)

Timelines play fine in Software only mode.

Tried re-loading the drivers and moving the AJa card in the Mac.

Sometimes reports "Legend Audio" as problem (even with no audio tracks)

    Sometimes reports "Hardware underrun."

Possibly our Macs are too underpowered?

    Typing in the console:

    ToggleDXMouseSupport

(It was set to on; this wil set it to off)

Seems to help; to the extent that I can play uncompressed HD with CC (with no audio) without dropping frames.

Update to the latest Kona IO Express driver from AJA.  See this:

Thanks Howard, intalled the new driver but it did not improve the frame dropping.

The Aja box is also just the right size for a kleenex dispenser...

Re: aja io express legend audio problem

    Hey All,

I'm having a version of this problem. Sometimes if I playback too soon after leaving trim mode I get the legend audio problem. I have to screw around for a while, open another file, scrub around and then it works again. It's supremely irritating though. I have everything updated and I deactivated fast scrub.

Is no one from AJA lurking around? It's a horrible thing to have happening when the director is in. I am becoming more and more disappointed with this thing. I have another system with a MXO2 mini and I am much happier with it.

Most irritating is the lack of support for 1080 23.98psf (the most common format in my world) over HDMI. That should certainly be clearer in the advertising.

I hope this gets updated, I used a Kona card with FCP for years and I would like to continue supporting their products, but only if they work.

I'll see if I can get a update on this.  It was a known problem.  I thought the updated AJA drivers addressed it, but maybe not.

Avid has reproduced this issue and is working with AJA on a fix.  It's a Priority 1 issue.  Stay tuned.

Thanks guys, it's actually gotten worse with their update that I installed. I now occasionally get something like "HDWSK" error. Something like that, I'll try to note it down next time it happens.

Often when I exit trim mode in a hasty fashion. For instance if I'm reviewing a trim and I exit halfway through playback and start adjusting the trim right away, then press play again, then stop. The audio from the trim starts looping repeatedly until I press play again.

The Legend Audio underrun is the biggest problem. I would say it happens 20 times a day, no exaggeration. Often getting so bad that I have to restart the system.

    I got it again.

    Exception: Fatal HWSDK Error.

It's driving me crazy. I'm very close to throwing this thing away.
