    HD to SD

I have a project which was shot and posted in HD. I have been asked to provide an SD DVD. What is the best way to convert my HD sequence to SD?

    Hi Mike,

    What is your HD format?

I generally shoot 1080p23.  To produce a DVD, I export a Quicktime reference and use Sorenson Squeeze 8.5 to convert to 480p23 with pulldown flags, which can be used to build a progressive DVD.  However, that somewhat-hidden capability seems to have disappeared from Squeeze, starting with version 9 or 10.

We have been using Adobe Media Encoder for projects that did not warrent the highest quality downconversion.  It works pretty well.  You do need to understand how to configure it to get the best result.
