Executive Producer here, of"Ciao Italia with Mary Ann Esposito"on PBS, making the light year leap from MC 5 to latest MC 8 in one single bound.
I've got a slew of off-lined cooking shows cut on MC 5 using HDV capture, both disc and tape. 1440 raster.
A straight project import to MC 8 defaults it to NTSC 30, at 4:3. So, that's a bust.
"New project" creation to import just one program show no raster option or any referene to HDV as a viable project.
Do I have a pig in a poke? Meaing Sony's HDV is a dinosaur?
If so,then so am I.
Any help welcomed. And the winner gets a large pizza.
I promise. Your choice of toppings. Delivered.

I don't work with HDV, but on my system there's a project setting under HD1080 for 1080i59.94 TR 1440. I'd try creating a new project using that setting.

I almost ordered that pizza! Delivery to the UK, who cares, right?
But then... my New Project box only shows 1080i59.94 as an option. No sign of the "TR 1440" addendum.
BTW... I have MC 2018.2. did it go away on mine?
Paul Lally:I have MC 2018.2. did it go away on mine?
I'm running the same version as you. I've attached a screen shot of the project presets listed under 1080. Just to make sure, you don't have the TR ones at the bottom?
Thanks for your help....
I made a screen shot but can't seem to upload it. Rats.
In any event, the dropdown on my 1080 project presets ends with 1080p/60.
It doesn't have the additional four options I see on your screenshot.
So close to that 1440 but yet so far!
If you choose 1080i 59.94, do you then get a little drop down next to it with some more choices?
No dropdown. Tried right clicking. Tried mousing over 1080i.
I feel that it's staring me in the face, but I can't see it... yet..
Could it be a function of Symphony? I have no experience with that.
I'm baffled.
...and I don't want your pizza to get cold.
Paul Lally:Could it be a function of Symphony?
I don't think so.
Paul Lally:I'm baffled.
So am I. Short of reinstalling MC, I'm not sure what else to suggest.
Uninstalled, re-intstalled. Still no sign of that option.
Thanks for trying. I appreciate your prompt response.
Good luck with all that you do across the pond!
Anyone else out there with a magic wand?
Do you have external playback hardware? Have you disconnected it if so?
Yes, but nothing connected yet.
Got MC 5 running on a separate computer - separated like church and state - until I make the changeover to the new computer and MC 8.
Can't figure out why my "New Project" doesn't have the TR 1140 option like camoscato has on his.

There's a free pizza in this for whoever saves "Ciao Italia's" bacon. Mixed metaphor, I know, but both are tasty, and, hey, I exec produce an Italian cooking series.
Create a normal 1920x1080 59.94i project. Then open it.
Then in the format tab of the project you will see a Raster Dimension drop down that you can seelct 1440x1080

Thanks, Pat!!!
DId so... now please be my seeing eye dog. Where's the "format tab" in the project located?
At the top of the window that lists the available bins you should see a series of tabs: "Bins", "Volumes", "Settings", and so on. There should be one labelled "Format". That's what I believe that Pat was referring to.
GOT it! Thahks... didn't have my window open wide enough. Duh...
Now to see if I can import my HDV programs which are the same resolution and raster. 1080i/59.94 1440x1080
So far it's kicking it back... hmmmm
