View Multicam Playback in Full Resolution

It's 2019 and my computer and drives are fast enough to watch multiple streams at the same time, there is also a new function where you can "Ignore Real Time Stream Limits".

But when I want to watch 2 cameras simultaneously in quad split - I still can only do it in half resolution.

I would like to watch it in full resolution where I can see all details.

all different setups in various editing suites. my own: MC 2018.2, OSX 10.12.6, iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4,2 GHz Intel Core i7, 40GB RAM, Radeon... [view my complete system specs]

Me too, working in dnxhd36 with 2 cams and low resolution in quad split which doesnt make sense, I would say. This should be fixed to be able to choose the resolution.

Wouldn't quad split mode prevent you to see in full res anyway? You only have 1920 x 1080 pixels in your display. How would you display 4 1080 streams in a single 1080 display simultaneously?

Half res (960 x 1080 or 1920 x 540) is still twice the resolution a quad-mode can display per camera since each quadrant is limited to 960 x 540.

Or am I misunderstanding something here?

Re: View Multicam Playback in Full Resolution

In Multicam Playback / Quad Split you can only use "Draft Quality" (yellow/green), not "Full Quality" as the video quality otion.

The readme for "Draft Quality" says: Processes and plays a subsample of the full image raster for the project that uses 1/4 of the image information. Uses a bit depth of 8 bits.

This option subsamples 50% of the raster width. For interlaced projects, this option uses one field. For progressive projects, this option uses 50% of the scan lines.

I could use a picture-in-picture effect that runs in realtime to watch multiple streams in "Full quality" but Multicam only works in "Draft Quality". I guess it has sth. to do with the performance of computers in the 90s. But now we are in 2019, so I would love to see quad split in "Full Quality".
