Just upgraded Xpress Pro to MC 2.5

I just upgraded my Xpress Pro to MC 2.5.  so far so good.  I love that the red arrow turns off when I click the timecode track!!! YAY!!!.   Running fine with a standard Mojo.  Haven't tried much on it yet, but did try the safe color limit effect. Works Great.

Was BCC 4.1 included? Also did you have to update your dongle. Do all of your previous plugins work?

    Thanks,

Re: Just upgraded Xpress Pro to MC 2.5

BCC 4.1 was included. It came in a box with new manuals and other software.  I had to download a dongle updater using an upgrade key that was in the box and upgrade the dongle. took like 3 seconds to do.

I had to unistall all previous plugins and remove any and all things related to Xpress Pro. So I had to re-install all my plugins. But that's fine since I had all the discs.  After re-installing they my sequences all worked fine and all the plugins were there.

What was the final version that Avid shipped?

I know 2.5.1 will be the download version.

    Thanks,

Did you get yours from a local reseller? Here in Atlanta they still have not received their shipment.

We got ours via UPS today from a Reseller from Nashville.  It came with version 2.5.   I figure I'll update to 2.5.1 next week.

Re: Just upgraded Xpress Pro to MC 2.5

we were running Boris Red 3.0.4.  So I just re-installed 3.0.1 and then did the update to 3.0.4.   I needed that plugin for the show I was working on, so I installed it first. But I still need to install DFT zMAtte and DFT Camera POV and probably a few others that I've forgotten about, but i'm not using them for this show.

I instaled BCC 4, but it's not backward compaitable with the BCC effects already in my sequence. So I'll probably re-install BCC 3 as soon as I find my install disc.

Also, an interesting thing. This new version of avid puts the Avid Projects folder in a new location. I actually had to open avid to see the file path on the project selection prompt to find it.  No big deal, but took a bit to find.  It's now in Documents and Settings/Shared Folders/Shared Avid Projects.   I guess to allow more control over XP permissions with different users.

Re: Just upgraded Xpress Pro to MC 2.5

I don't  believe any version of  Boris BCC 3.0 is compatible with MC 2.5. That's why I asked about 4.1 being bundled with the package. If you do try to go back let us know the results.

Why ? Avid states MC2.5 is AVX 1.5 compatible !!!!!

Okay, I just Re-installed BCC 3.0. It works fine.  I also I have BCC 4 installed. it works fine, but with both BCCs installed BCC 3.0 shows all it's effects in the effect pallete, but BCC4 only shows the effects that are new to BCC4.  For example in BBC 4 under BCC Color & Blurs, only BCC Color Match and BCC Median are in the effect pallete.  But BCC 3 still shows all the other effects.

So i'm seeing a small problem with 2.5, or really with the Mojo on 2.5. about every other time I restart the cpu, the mojo does not "boot" properly. So when I start MC, it says no Mojo is connected. I quit, power cycle mojo and then it works.  Maybe it's a problem with the firmware update on the mojo???

Re: Just upgraded Xpress Pro to MC 2.5

Mr Difficult, when this happens, could you try these steps for me?

    1. Quit the application.
    2. Open the Sytem Control Panel and go to the hardware manager tab.
    3. Expand the Sound and Multimedia devices, you will probably see a yellow exclamation point next to the Mojo device.
    4. Unplug the power from the back of the Mojo.
    5. Unplug the Mojo from the PC.
    6. Power the Mojo back up.
    7. Plug the Mojo back into the firewire port (be careful not to flip the plug around).

I would like to know if the Mojo comes up properly when you follow these steps.

If it doesn't, are you using the /3GB switch?  If so, do you know what the /userva is set to?  Also, what other devices do you have on your system.  Is your system qualified by Avid?
