    Rendered Effects Stuttering

Here's the issue: 2:1 graphics over DV25 material plays fine until the effects and titles are rendered then the whole thing stutters (plays about 1 frame per second). Using striped Avid drives in a 320 MediaDock. Any clues?

    Re: Rendered Effects Stuttering

Make it all DV25 or all 2:1.  Ive seen it happen when it creates the new pre-compute, its rendering two compressions together.

I agree with Jay.  I've had the same issues.

    Re: Rendered Effects Stuttering

I tried transcoding the errant clips to DV25 and 2:1 to have the same resolution in the timeline and got the same result in both cases: it worked OK until it was rendered. Also, changing the Effects Aperture didn't make any difference (I'm getting to the bottom of the barrel here...)

    Any other ideas?

    Re: Rendered Effects Stuttering

Which render resolution is selected in Media Creation ?

What happens if you let the FX un-rendered and do a mixdown over the FX

    Re: Rendered Effects Stuttering

It's set to 2:1 OMF. I suppose I should change it for the DV timeline that I'm testing...

Mixdowns cause the same problem: stuttering.

Is stuttering comparable to a lack of 1 field ?

    Re: Rendered Effects Stuttering

No, it was more like updating the output 1 frame per second.

I did isolate the problem to the drives that the material was being rendered onto. I think there is either some corrupt media on those drives or there is a hardware problem with the drives themselves. Rendering to a different drive eliminated the issue.

    Re: Rendered Effects Stuttering

    Glad you could figure out.

Maybe a hardware failure on the hard drive(s)
