    Avid Start Up Crash

    Hi all

I've recently developed a problem with Avid Media Composer running on my laptop. Here are my specs

Avid MC 2.8, Pentium 4 3.0GHz, 2GB memory, XP Pro SP 2 HP zd7255. (I'm running a legacy NVIDIA gfx GeForce FX 5700 but it works fine)

When I initialise the system it reaches the Select Project stage. When I select an existing project the whole thing just crashes (no error code/message just vanishes). I manage to get around this by creating a new project which it then loads up fine. I then close the new project and open up the existing one, which from then on works ok.

A friend's suggested it may be a corrupt code/file or a problem with the default start up settings - does anyone have any idea how I can track it down and eliminate it? Or could it be something else?

    Cheers

    James

Try deleting the project settings file (.avs) in the project folder of the offending project.  It will rebuild on the next startup, however, the project settings will need to be reset.

You could also hold down the alt key while starting the project. This will open the projects with all bins closed. If that works, there might be corrupt meta in on of the bins.
