    Field Render issues

    Hi All,

Working on Nitris 4.04, PC Z400.  Didged 30sec clip, SD 30i, MXF 1:1, exported same as source.  In After Effects CS3 on new MAC Intel 8core , added one layer (graphic), did nothing to source footage, rendered Avid 1:1x codec, and on import the video looks like the fields are out of order.  Tried rendering UFF, LFF, MXF, OMF, H264, Tried changing field order on import, etc... all with the same awful results.

Can someone please tell me what the heck I did wrong?  Is there an issue/bug/new reality with QT field order that I am not aware of?  I had previously installed Avid QT codecs LE v2.0, which enable me to view Same as source HD QTs on the desktop, so I think that is ok.

I have done this many times in the past, but this is I think the first time with MCA v4, so maybe I have missed something.

    TIA

I am using this workflow for my vhs makeups, this in Pal SD, what are you export settings out of AE CS3, if you go to the advanced settings for your Avid 1:1 codec, should be NTSc i in your case I suppose.

Is your rendered file out of AE fast importing back into Media Composer ?

Try using "Avid Meridien Uncompressed."  That is actually the same as SD 1:1 is.  The "Avid 1:1x" is a 10-bit uncompressed HD codec.

Since that codec is expecting upper field first (and SD is lowerr-field first in NTSC) that might be causing the issue.

    Re: Field Render issues

    Thanks guys,

Kevin: I am confused by this:  " The "Avid 1:1x" is a 10-bit uncompressed HD codec. "  As I mentioned, I exported same as source from an SD project, and when looking at the resulting movie in QT inspector, it says that it is in fact an Avid 1:1x 720x486 movie.

Anyway I tried the Meridien Uncompressed QT and that seemed to work.

    Thanks for all the help.
