So... USB speakers, fw-interfaced speakers, or what?

    Hi there,

I've tried to use speakers/monitors—connected to my Mac via a fw interface—before, and have gotten nowhere.  I think I remember being told that Avid wants the fw interface to itself, so don't bother.

But now that I'm setting up a Mac Pro, I'd like to ask again.  I have a pair of monitors that I can connect through an Apogee Duet... which is a firewire audio interface.

    Is this worth trying?

Or is there a better way that I'm not considering... maybe connecting speakers to an MX02 mini?

Of course I can go back to Plan A:  connecting small Bose speakers via my audio out.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

    thanks, Malcolm
