• Re: Editors are working in "10 bit" mode in dnxHD 36
A few "A list" Film Editors out here in Hollywood believe by selecting "10 bit" all-green mode they are seeing a clearer "more high resolution" image while they are working away on dnx36/115.
Yes, we ought to be careful to not mix apples and oranges. In video parlance, resolution

  • Linking changed in 8.8.5?

Any reason why linking to KiPro DNX 1080i59.94 recorded QuickTime files wouldn't work in 8.8.5? TIA, David

Fellas, thanks for all the replies. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one who found the NDX alarmingly loud. Of course, when it's in a server room, one probably doesn't know or care but when it's in the suite... Sharney, info on your final replacement units would be helpful. The Noctua's are really nice fans so it's

  • Nitris DX/Symphony Communication

After having our Nitris DX in operation for almost 10 years, I thought it would be high time to open it up again and not only give it a good dusting but also to replace the rather old and noisy 80 mm Delta main system fans. I decided to pick up a pair of Austrian designed Noctua fans which are very nicely made and extremely quiet. However, these fans

Bruno, so we took some decisions. Based on Eizo's information and their good reviews as well as your wise advise, we decided to go with the setup you suggested. We're going with the 24" Eizo for colour and an E-series 4K Vizio for client monitoring. As for signals, we decided to stick with the 6G BMD Decklink 4K Extreme as 2160p60 is not

I also understand that Avid has put a "hardware DNXHR" encoder into their box but I'm wondering if this is of any benefit to our workflow. Does the encoder assist on playack for multiple streams of DNXHR or is it essentially useful for the capture of 4K media via SDI/HDMI

Bruno(and others), to conclude the chapter on the 8600, I'm happy to report that after a few rounds of hardware troubleshooting, it is now working flawlessly on a replaced Q4K given the first one I picked up was (also) defective. Fortunately, the fellow who sold it to me (through eBay) is local (I chose him for that) and was kind enough to come

Bruno, our two 8600 systems seem to be quite similar now with Q4K cards. Did you (or do you) have any issues with it? I read about a few folks in the UK complaining about their Q4K cards needing to be replaced as they weren't working.
David, Can't say I've ever seen

Well, we're here a month later and things have progressed. I didn't want to post further until I had something more concrete to comment on. I managed to source an original HP Q4K card, a 256 GB Samsing SSD (SATA II) and 24 GB of ECC RAM. In resptrospect, I should have just bought 4 x 8 GB kits of RAM (instead of 3) to populate all memory slots

So this brings me to the use of the built in LSI SAS controller. The two controllers are independent of each other so why not use that instead for the SATA media drives?
The onboard LSI controller can only handle raid 0 and 1. Not raid 5 or 6. It depends on your raid
