  • Lightning flash effect in AVID

Hi - Can anyone recommend a way to add a lightening flash effect in AVID. To be clear I mean the flash that lights up a scene when an off camera lightening strike happens, rather than the actual strik itself. Thanks Alex

  • Can I Conform in AVID?

So I have shot a feature film on RED. We have edited SD versions of the rushes in MC5. Is it possible for me now to go back and use avid to conform with the original RED files and output at 2k for grading? (even if I have to do it manually and in small chunks!) The problem I'm having is that we have used lots and lots of transitions, x /y axis changes

  • Re: MC 5.5.2 is Here!

Hi Do you happen to know how to get hold of someone at Avid who can email a 5.5.2 30 day trial code? On the site it says if you were running the 5.5 trial and the 30 days is up you can email and request another 30 days for 5.5.2. They will send a code. However I have emailed 3 times and no response at all. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Re: Very weird file problems when changing machines...

Hi again, hbrock. That sounded like it could be the issue but have loaded the MXF plug in and given it another go and still nothing. When I try to link via ama I get an error and in the console it says that the plug-in does not support that type of MXF file. Mind you it says that if I try and link to one of the MXF files that avid can see too! Apparently

  • Re: Very weird file problems when changing machines...

Hi Again! I have tried all of the above many times. The database files rebuild as normal except the 2nd type of mxf files still don't appear in the media tool. The confusing thing is that it works fine on my editors mac. The only differences are that she has Avid 5.0.3 and I 5.5. I've checked the formatting of the Disk in Disk Utilities and

  • Different types of MXF file?

Hi Are there different types of MXF file and is it possible that my imac/Avid set up can not see some types where another mac/avid set up can? Is there a way round it? cheers Alex

Yes it is RED - went into her system just pasted into the Avid MediaFiles folder. No import required. My folders are numbered 1 - 9 but there are files that it does see in the very same folders so I guess it is looking in them correctly. What's odd is that the exact same disc works fine on her machine. Cheers Alex

Thanks hbrock. The originals just came as mxf's which my editor copied into Avid MediaFiles. They appeared in her media tool fine, but don't appear in mine. She is on a macbook pro and I on an imac. I've tried re-linking too and no luck. For some reason her Avid can see them, but mine can't. I'm wondering if there is some difference

  • Very weird file problems when changing machines...

Hi I have a trail of Avid. My editor has a paid up version. She uses an external hard drive to store all the media. We copied the whole drive to a second drive and then plugged that in to my mac. When we loaded the project most, but not all of the files were media offline. I tried all the usual fixes (check naming & loc of folders, deleted database
