  • Re: Can I Buy Hard Copy of MC Software

Indeed - just download and put it on whatever media works for you - DVD, USB, or even just keep a copy of the current installer on your laptop's hard drive. Remember, the download has nothing to do with being attached to a user. It's the exact same file as the trial version. The licensing happens separately - in the Application Manager, or with

  • Re: Importing Sony XAVCS 4K into MC 8.5.2

I believe support was added in 8.9 or so. However, last I knew, some data, such as timecode, was not kept. In other words, you'd link to the files, and the timecodes would all show as zero. If that doesn't matter to you, maybe try updating your software and see if it works.

[Removed post - thought I was updating on a new version. I was on a system with an older version. Never mind..!]

Give it a try! Console command wfTglAvchd (at least that was it a couple of years ago...) I haven't tried it in a while, but last time I did, I found myself quickly turning it off.

  • Re: Import MP4

36 Mbps of an intra-frame codec like DNxHD is not really comparable to the same rate (or even lower!) of an inter-frame or long-GOP codec like AVCHD. Intra-frame codecs like DNxHD, ProRes, AVC-Intra, and others perform better (i.e. faster scrubbing, playback, etc.) because each frame is self-contained - there's no calculation being done in reference

  • Re: Canon xa10 avchd files and Media Composer

I had always thought the XA10 uses AVCHD, just like the XA25 that I use natively with MC all the time. If so, no need to install any additional AMA plugin because the AVCHD AMA component is part of the MC installer. You should be able to link directly to the root of the volume and the clips should appear - complete with timecode and with longer spanned

  • Re: Convert .MTS video files for AMA LINKING

Why not link to the originals, then transcode immediately inside of MC, and edit with the transcodes? That'll make it easier to relink to the originals at any time. Another thing to consider - with MTS files, these are often part of a larger folder structure (a AVCHD folder). Generally better to link to the FOLDER, rather than directly to individual

  • Re: Relinking issues

The originals are using drop-frame TC, while the MOVs are using NDF - that might have something to do with it. Select all the rewrapped MOVs, Modify Clips > Set TC drop/non-drop to "Drop" and see if it lets you relink then. Additionally, the clips are on the same drive, so it might not link until you force the MOVs "offline" by

Same for MC 2018.5 thru 2018.7.1 with AJA Kona LHi on a 2008 Mac Pro running 10.11.6. No problem on 2018.4.

  • Re: Converting .mts files?

Where did the files come from - any idea what camera? What format - maybe AVCHD? Are the files organized in a folder structure, or are they just MTS files by themselves? Sounds like they might be part of a folder structure, and the MTS files are spanned - split into additional files as they reach a specific file size. Linking addresses this, while the
