• Re: Problem linking a renamed MXF file.
...I did try deleting the linked master clip and relinking - multiple time. Once, when I did this, the new linked clip actually showed the original file name from before the rename!!. Jef
Ah! That jogged my memory. I THINK that you need to delete the AMA Database. I'm not near a system at the moment, to be able

As you didn't mention it specifically, I have to ask, did you delete the linked file from your Bin and try a new linking process? I've had similar issues to that same process (using linking to check an exported file) and deleting the link and linking anew worked for me.

  • Re: Adding Mac Workstations

Be mindful of the small differences between Media Composer on Mac and PC. One of the main issues is not having consistent and fault-free titling between the two. Usually because of the different way the two platforms handle fonts. This one is a headache for us, where we do titling on all edit stations and share Projects across the two platforms.

  • Re: MXF OP1a Closed GOP

I've had some XDCAM mxf delivery files which were made from Media Composer 8.6.3, have been rejected from the client as they are not Closed GOP. I had the export option “Re-encode for XDCAM bitstream compliance” checked. My report says: GOP Status: Closed Open [1 Errors; Reason: 'GOP Status' is not Closed] GOP structure: {GOP

Worth taking a look at the Resolve Manual and the section " Importing Effects When Conforming Edits" to see exactly which effects and parameters can be carried over from Media Composer.

  • Re: settings file name

'Media Creation' is a Project setting; have you tried adding it from another Project's Settings? ...which would allow you to delete the faulty one. Or, create a new Project with the same name as your current one, move you Bins/folders into it and carry on.

  • Re: Sliding markers in the record monitor - no zoom in?

What version MC do you have? I'm on v 8.6.3 and I can't edit the Marker Timecode, either, so I expect it's a feature on a later version than we each have. One thing that may help you, though; Whilst you can't zoom into the timeline of the Record window, you can zoom into the Timeline window. If you zoom into your Timeline so that you

My support engineer rolled the system back, from MC 8.6.5 to 8.6.3 and the problem is fixed! I can now check in UHD frame size DNxHR media. Smiley face!

  • Re: What is the "Part" column for in the Markers window?
I guess Spanned Markers can't be added on the fly like regular Markers.
They're special Markers. And they require a process to create them (Mark In, Mark Out, Create Spanned Marker) so no, you can't create them on the fly. And because of the level of precision required at the times you would use

Spanned Markers. Spanned Markers are used to show 'parts' of a timeline - usually the 'content', as opposed to the lineup signals and black between segments/acts or 'parts'. Create a Spanned Marker and you'll see. The 'Part' numbers will be the order in the timeline, not the order in which the Parts are created. The
