  • Re: Multigrouping Avid 2018 without Pluraleyes

If Premiere is allowing you to create the synched tracks, but you wamt to multicam in Avid, you can always sync in Premiere, then output the entire 1 hour track as a "same as source." Then just bring in the 5 1hour clips and multigroup those for your edit. Waveform synching can be a bit sloppy (a few frames either way is common). i do a lot

  • Re: Media Composer 2018.4 Released and FAQ

Hi Mariana. Would also like to know about the educational version (for faculty). I currently have the educational version with Symphony included. I also have Script Sync and Phrasefind options. What will happen with the educational version?

  • Re: Apple ProRes

I thought the same thing about the "double" export years ago when I first started doing it. I do a lot of 1-hour shows with mixed ProRes and DNx files. In my exprience, it is faster to do a video mixdown of the entire program to ProRes, cut it onto a new video track, then export same as source, than it is to simply export to ProRes Quicktime

  • Re: Best XDCAM XAVC WORKFLOW

My workflow is to edit, either AMA if I am doing a doc with fewer tracks and lots of footage, or transcode if I am doing multicam or lots of effects, then do a video mixdown to the resolution/format to which I will be delivering. For example, I shoot on XAVC, transcode or edit AMA, then do a video mixdown to ProRes, since that is a common delivery format

  • Re: Color Correction Error

There are many apects that seem to be different problems, but when you get the "color correction can't be added to filler" error, it might be because you have a track selected that does not have a video clip on that frame of the timeline where you are applying the color correction. In other words, if you have three video tracks with clips

  • Re: GoPro 6 and HEVC

If you are doing much transcoding, check out EditReady. I'll often use the rewrap function when transferring XAVC-S or GoPro files to my Raid drive (straight from my original). It takes about the same amount of time as simply copying the files, and it seems to clear up a lot of hiccups that seem to plague the more consumer-based formats. Since I

I don't know about the HEVC format, but make sure you are either in a 4k project, or that you have temporarily changed the project formt to 4k before trying to link. Once you go to transcode, the best option is to be in the format of whatever resolution you are transcoding to.

  • Re: DNxHR in an HD project

Hi Tom. I am on 8.9.2. That is not how mine works. I have an HD project, with most of the material HD, and some 4k. When my project format is HD, I only get the DNxHD options for importing. When I change the format to 4k in the same project, I get the DNxHR options and ProRes options. This works on HD or 4k footage. Changing my project format back to

  • Re: DNxHR in an HD project

For your first issue, have you tried changing the project format to a suitable/similar 4k format? You should have the HR options for importing or exporting. You can then change the format back to HD for working on the project.

  • Re: MC 8.9.1 Mouse Clicks Offset with Dual Monitor Setup

I have been seeing this too, in 8.9 and 8.9.1. Currently on 10.12.6, but also happened on 10.12.5. If I relaunch MC, it goes away, but as reported by others, eventually comes back. Everything seems fine, then at a random time, the offset happens and it stays until I relaunch. iMac Retina 5k Late 2015.
