  • Re: Help request for dynamic relink testing in MC 2018.12.3

Isn’t dynamic relink Interplay only? (Be great if it were available for standalone)

  • Re: A7sii not linking

Thanks Marianna but I thought the Nablet plug-ins superseded the Sony ones? I have the nablet installed and it works with the other Sony cameras - def A7s and I thought I’d used A7sii too...

  • Bug?: Edit group not updating switched angle

I feel like I’ve reported this before... TL;dr - refreshing groups doesn’t refresh currently switched angle. Ive been using the new grouping features (2018.12.3) extensively, with AMA linked files, and they work well for the most part. This week I got the audio files transferred to me straight after shoot while the camera files were being

  • A7sii not linking

I’ve been very happy back on Avid (2818.12.3), using AMA linking to replace Premiere Pro workflow for fast turnaround where sources are typically Sony F5 and Sony A7s files from a variety of shooters. This week the A7sii files would not link in Source Browser, or if Alt-dragged to bins. Pretty sure I’ve had media from the mk2 before. Is

  • Mouse shuttle and JKL shuttling

I've never really used mouse shuttle but, inpsired by the 'Source Tape' shuttle feature in DaVinici Resolve 16, I had a little play today. I found it pretty much unusable as it really disables the mouse for all other operations. Feels to me like it was the forerunner of 'skimming' as seen in FCPx, PPro and DR. It should, IMO, only
  • Re: Fastest, Cleanest Workflow Avid to Vimeo

I use watch folders, with an intermediate export, to generate H264s. Either Adobe Media Encoder (transcodes & uploads to vimeo) or MXFtoMP4 from Bouke at videotoolshed.com and upload manually. The latter is quicker as it starts the transcode as the Avid is exporting. Both can burn in logo and timecode. For the intermediate export I mostly use: XAVC

  • Re: Source roll sequences

Reupping this thread now that DaVinci Resolve have their Cut Page option to shuttle through a bin. The metadata is there (or can be added) let us use it to find shots. Make it easy for me to match frame to a clip then shuttle back in time on that camera, or switch to a different camera at that time, or view a multiviewer of all cameras in record at

  • Re: Using an EDL to notch a video

[quote user="prberg"] I just don't understand how importing a text file can crash Media Composer. That just seems like poor programming. Give me an error message.. but don't take down the application! I get stuck in those Assertion Failed message loops and then have to force quit Avid. I see Avid as being really solid (compared to

  • Re: Using an EDL to notch a video

I think the quickest way is to 1. import the EDL to Avid (so media is offline on V1) 2. put the quicktime on a timeline track (V2) above the offline cuts 3. add 'reformat|pan & scan' effect to quicktime clip on V2 4. while in effect edit mode on the pan & scan, select the track that the offline is on (V1) and hit 'subdivide effect'
