  • Re: Animated Matte Key Over Live Video

Ugh, I was afraid you'd say that ;-) I think it will be much easier to do the entire "comp" in AE, and bring the comp'd clip back into AVID. I prefer not to in case I need to change timing again (I always prefer to do as much as I can inside the edit system, avoiding roundtrips, etc.), but it seems like it's the best path for now

  • Animated Matte Key Over Live Video

I'm attempting something that is extremely simple, but I'm struggling on AVID to achieve: 1) I have an animated graphic I created in After Effects w/alpha channel 2) Imported to AVID, which creates a MATTE KEY clip 3) Dropped the clip onto an UPPER TRACK, and it keys through nicely, as expected over the clips on the track below 4) Because the

  • Re: Time to UPREZ. Best practices?

Thanks Pat! Question: " I would then delete the media for all those clips so they go offline." I assume you're referring to the clips that will be replaced with the new, AMA linked and transcoded (UHD) clips? I'd like NOT to delete any original media if possible just in case any changes are requried after the UPREZ. Not likely, but

  • Time to UPREZ. Best practices?

Hi all, I have a massive 1 1/2 hour doc that I'm going to start uprezzing this week, and I need some advice from more experienced AVID users. Target format is UHD, 23.98 OFFLINE: 1080P/23.98 ONLINE: UHD, 23.98 Source material is a mix of: 1. UHD rushes transcoded to offline format of 1080P 2. UHD/MXF AMA linked rushes that were never transcoded

  • Re: Media Composer TRASH BIN is gone!

Hi Marianna, Oy Vey? Now you're speaking my language . . I'm doing great, thanks. Working hard to meet our deadline to deliver LIFE·LOVE·DOGS by December. And thank you again BTW. Re: your comment, does this restore the TRASH folder (when items are in it) within the AVID bin view? Michael

  • Media Composer TRASH BIN is gone!

AVID MC 2018.9.0 I just noticed that my TRASH BIN is nowhere to be found. When I delete "stuff" it's just GONE, no trash to go find it! There is an EMPTY trash folder at the finder level, but nothing in it. Any ideas? If someone deleted the TRASH folder at the FINDER level, does AVID recreate it? Thx, Michael Buday

  • Re: 2018.7 Dead on arrival

Thank you Ralph. I can confirm that reverting back to v2018.5 solves the issue. Some other clues that may be helpful: On v2018.7 - everything seemed fine when I had ONLY one BIN open, the one containing the sequence in the REC monitor. Once I opened another BIN, and loaded another seq into the REC monitor, the lag/freezing appeared. Closing the aforementioned

I'm having the exact same issue. The entire app randomly freezes for about 5 to 10 seconds, then unfreezes and returns to normal until it happens again. Invoking play on the timeline appears to be the catalyst, but again, sometimes it works fine, other times it starts freezing up. For me, when the freeze/lag occurs, the entire app freezes, including
