• Re: New Blue Titler v5

Fortunately, Avid has stated very publicly that they are working on a new Title Tool - and accoring to them, it will be ready roughly one year ago! You read that right - according to a slide they themselves presented at NAB 2017, the new tool will be ready as soon as last April!! Woo! All you need to do is travel 10 months in the past, and it SHOULD

  • Re: 3D Pixar Animations

If you have multiple tens of thousands of dollars gathering dust, then Maya is perhaps what you're looking for. If you want to spend less (i.e. free) and get nearly identical results, then Blender is what you want. Blender is open-source, and is updated constantly. It already has more features than you'll ever use. Honestly, I can't think

  • Re: Mark In - Out on Timeline Selects Two Frames

Looking at my image, it looks like you're correct and the 12:10 is the only frame selected. I guess I don't work interlaced often enough to have noticed this before. Thanks for taking time to show this to me.

  • Re: Building a PC for the first time - Avid compatible?

I'm not sure if you'll find anyone anywhere anymore who recommends Raid-5. They are incredibly prone to complete data-loss. I would imagine many people here have known people who have lost all their data in a Raid-5 array (my co-worker did about 4 years ago). They are probably the most dangerous thing you can do - and most computer folks will

  • Mark In - Out on Timeline Selects Two Frames

So, I installed 8.10 recently, and I've noticed something odd. If I have my timeline marker in the timeline, and hit the "mark in" button, it places that properly. But when I immediately hit the "mark out" button (O on my keyboard) the out point is marked a frame later than I expect. Two frames are marked, not one. While doing
Place your cursor over the effect, and press 'Delete Effect'
I have always mapped this to my keyboard because of its incredible usefullness. Seems funny that it doesn't have an automatic keyboard shortcut.

  • Re: Export to Squeeze Acting Weird After New PC Build

OK, after trying lots of things, I think I may have a workaround. In the "Auto Launch" area, it seems that using the default "Sorenson Squeeze" template is the problem. Rather, I created a new template, and navigated to the location of the Squeeze.exe software file. Upon doing that, the additional options for the export go away,

  • Export to Squeeze Acting Weird After New PC Build

So I just built a new PC for Avid, and now when I try to export my sequence to Sorenson Squeeze, I am seeing something new and odd. It auto-adds an encoding preset (mp3 unless I change it) to my sequence. I used to select the preset I wanted in Squeeze, but now when I get there, there is already an mp3 preset applied, and I must delete it, and then

  • Re: 13 days left!

I hope that Avid looks at what Adobe has for its title tool in Premiere Pro. It's SO much better than anything Avid has ever done in titling. But the most important thing is that titles look sharp. Currently, the title tool in Avid creates the softest text you'll find in any application. Even hacking the tool in the console doesn't fix the

No, they have been very specific it is a revision to the Avid Title Tool, and is most certainly not the NewBlue Titler. There was just a post recently that it will arrive some time in 2018. So that whole road map is about a year behind already. At this rate, I expect getting Blending Modes some time in late 2027.
