  • Re: DNxID Install HELL!

Exactly so - so you'd run TB 2 cable from host computer to drives, then another TB 2 cable to the adapter. The TB3 end of the adapter plugs into the back of the DNxID. Because the DNxID and drives are sharing the Thunderbolt connection, you may see some performance issues if you are really hitting the drives hard and playing back at high-bandwidth

No, I think that's just a MiniDisplayPort adapter. We use the Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter with good results. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1294286-REG/apple_mmel2am_a_thunderbolt_3_to_thunderbolt.html Thanks, Jeremy

When I look at the B&H link you sent, it only mentions support for the Z4, Z6, Z8. Hopefully HP is correct and it works in the Z840 as well. If you do have to resort to the TB2 port with the TB2>TB3 adapter, you should connect your drives first and then daisy chain the DNxID off the drives. The USB-C port on the back of the DNxID is only designed

I may be wrong, but I thought the HP Thunderbolt card for the Z840 was Thunderbolt 2, not 3. So you'll need a Thunderbolt 2 > 3 adapter like Apple's. https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMEL2AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb-c-to-thunderbolt-2-adapter?afid=p238%7CsEc33DURg-dc_mtid_1870765e38482_pcrid_246386725857_&cid=aos-us-kwgo-pla-btb--slid--

What Dom said - you do need a Thunderbolt 3 connection to your computer, not USB-3 (which can be confusing because they both use the same USB-C connector) and a Thunderbolt 3 cable. While most laptops have true TB3 connections, some desktop Windows systems come with USB-C connectors that are only USB-3 and need the additional PCI card for TB3. Depending

  • Re: New DNxIQ Install issue

Richard, The stuttering is due to the VDMErr. I suspect you are mixing non-contemporaneous versions of Media Composer and BMD's Desktop Video software. For Media Composer 8,5, you should be using Desktop video 10.9.11 - but check the Media Composer 8.5 release notes to be sure. Thanks, Jeremy

  • Re: DNXIO Multiple HD SDI Streams

No, this is not possible with the DNxIO. it is designed to receive just a single stream of video from the computer host. As Marianna noted, it can output that single stream across multiple connectors, and it can convert them to lower quality formats (e.g. HD and SD downconverted simultaneously). To be able to output multiple streams you'd need a

Ollie, I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you trying to send out two separate streams of video through separate HD-SDI connectors, or are you trying to stream out the same video data as two streams of different formats through separate HD-SDI conhectors? Thanks, Jeremy

What format UHD are you outputting from the DNxIO? What version of the BMD Desktop Video software are you using? Thanks, Jeremy
