• Re: Reinstalling on second computer
What Scott said, except that if You have a dongle all You have to do is to move it from the old to the new workstation.
True, Luca. Since it seemed as if the question was about a situation without a dongle, I didn't mention that. (For me, it would be impossible to forget I had a dongle.) Because we don't

You can install the software on as many machines as you like. The limiting factor is that you can only have one machine activated at a time unless you have more than one license. So, if you have only one license and want to use the software on a different computer, you have to deactivate the software on the previous computer before you can activate

  • Re: wrong format
Take a look at hdcinematics.com. The V4 update of this converter program can convert almost anything. The download version will allow a trial version in which you can convert 2 files. It is an inexpensive program. Denny
I think that's 2 files per launch. If you want to convert more than 2 files per session
__bg.1 seems to be at the same level as other numbered folders but clearly has a special use (by the background renderer, presumably). Other than that, it behaves as other numbered folders. Avid doesn't promote its use for end-users and hence, if you choose to use it, you do so at your own risk. Is that fair?

While that may be true, I won't do that just on the chance that if a background process is activated later that the files manually placed there would get lost or altered. If there's no difference between the folders and how they're used by MC, then there's no need to have the separate folders for background processing. Yet, there are

Renamed what files? The bg folders are created for background transcoding. I wouldn't recommend using them even if renamed. As I recall, they're not in the right parent folder for typical media files. The proper place for native Avid media MXF files is at the same level in the directory tree as your folders already named with numbers. You can

  • Re: We need XAVC-S AMA since a year. Why is there no XAVC-S?

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Sony gave AMA plugin development to another company called Nablet. I'd guess Nablet will have something soon if they don't already. I don't use those formats so I don't know if something is out and working from them yet. The news about Nablet and its plugins has been discussed here recently so you
