• Re: Add filler using In and Out points?

You can add multiple effects to a clip by "nesting" them. There are step-in and step out buttons that will allow you to do this. You can Load Filler into your source window, by clicking the clip name and choose load filler. Then put in and out points in your timeline select the track above your video track and overlay the filler.

  • Re: Stereo audio tracks are only mono in my multi cam project

Certainly not ideal, but he just has two cameras with their own audio. He's not cutting something crazy complex it seems. Syncing can be done manually pretty easily since you can easily see how the group is synced together. I'm also curious as to whether the "commit multicam edits" would replace the mono "group clip" audio

can't you just lay your audio tracks from each clip down on the timeline independent of the grouped clip you are using for your video? You'll just need to lay them down synced correctly to match your cameras. Then don't bother with the audio from the group and either mute them to use as a reference or remove them entirely from the sequence

  • Re: avid-davinci roundtrip question

Keep in mind that Avid's source/record viewers are displaying "video levels" (16-235) while Resove is showing "full levels" (0-255, technically 0-1023 since Resolve works in 10 bit). The result is that Avid is going to appear to have lifted blacks compared to what Resolve is showing. You can right click in the viewer and choose

  • Re: Group by Waveform - Survey

I've also had good success with waveform analysis with syncing some relatively long clips. It does help to have a strong audio signal on your cameras. We usually just use the oncamera mic gained up so that the signal is strong. We clap it off with a clap board as well which I think helps to give a solid starting point for Avid to use. The results

  • Re: What's the secret to MC and DNxHD/DNxHR with alpha
However in the case of DNxHD the setting must be Do not invert. I guess it's somewhere in the DNxHD specs that black = opaque(?). Have you tried that setting?
I think I have, but it might be worth looking at it again. Avid sort of goes my the old film transparency rule where white areas of the film frame

Sorenson more less became obsolete as anyone with $50 a month to spend got Adobe Media Encoder and updates along with all the other tools they use like Photoshop, After Effects, etc...

  • Re: Source/Record windows display wrong color
just take the option off from the video display setting last one in the bottom et voila!!!!
That's a "workaround" and not a "fix". Dual Copy has some performance advantages. It would be nice to see this work properly on high end Geforce cards.

  • What's the secret to MC and DNxHD/DNxHR with alpha

Historically for graphics with alphas such as animated lower 3rds I've always created them in Adobe After Effects and then rendered them out using the Animation codec and straight alpha. These import perfectly into MC. Lately with larger frame sizes like UHD and consistency even with HD, I've been using DNxHD/DNxHR instead of animation in more
