• Re: New - Media Composer v3.1.2 released 1/19/09

No answer from my side, but Apple has just released Quicktime 7.6. Is it just me or does Apple do this on purpose whenever there is a new Avid update released.... Anywho, what does this mean for MC3.1.2? Stick to the previous version of QT?
BTW: don't see how VAT would determine your time of purchase, since you will reclaim it anyway; now or then. But that's none of my business of course ;-)
Hi Job, I don't see the point you are trying to make here, as the VAT is not quite part of the discussion. Dollar/Euro exchange rate is.

Concerning the pricing, it seems Avid is very good at listening, just saw that the price her in Holland has gone down to €536,-- including VAT in the avid store. Although with the going rate it should be around 330 euros, I will give them credit for keeping an eye on the forum. Edit: Ah, Marianna was a bit quicker: thanks for your reply! I am glad I

Hi BLKDOG, thanks for all your efforts. I hope you get paid by Avid for keeping on the hotline... I must say that only now I understand the €595,00 price is including VAT which does make a difference, but still... Although currency fluctuations are a terrible thing for a company on a day to day basis, I would say Avid could be getting much more business

You americans are so lucky - or are we Europeans just being taken for fools? Why is the upgrade $495 in the US, when overhere in Holland Avid wants to charge me €595?? That's about $900 with the current exchange rate!

  • Re: Benefits Media Composer vs AXP?

Hi Carl, thanks for that! This was just what I was looking for. Might be my non-native English that I wasn't able to find this on the website... And your advice to wait for that anouncement might be a good idea. I would only invest in a possible MC upgrade in the next quarter (VAT / revenue service wise that would be more economical for me). Cheers

  • Benefits Media Composer vs AXP?

Hi All, Could someone explain to me what the benefits will be when I upgrade my AXP (no Mojo) to Media Composer? And will it be worth the cost? Up until now I have been running AXP quite happily. Although AXP and FCP work for me personally, I do get regular requests from people who want to hire my editing suite with MC. Although this is not on a daily

If you want to use the exported quicktime in DVD SP, I'd suggest you don't use the Avid codec while exporting. My experience is that DVD SP won't accept it.

brainburst:     The question is why? It's one thing to accept proprietary media types and formats for acquisition. It's quite another for personal archiving. Why not use something more standard and retrievable? H.264? ProRes 422? MPEG2? Burned on a bluray disc. I do not quite understand what this has to do with figuring out how the machine

Hi All, the PDW-U1 has finally arrived in my office. Have installed it and tested it with FCP and it works smoothly. Now I am trying to get it to work with AXP but am experiencing some problems. Of course AXP doesn't recognize it as a deck, so I have been trying to import XDCAM source clips. They are saved on my hard drive with a .mov extension. When
